A Message from Principal Dumar

Bradfield Families,

Our Bradfield Community continues to emulate the true meaning of Enter to Learn, Go Forth to Serve. Bradfield Dads Club continues to step up and play a vital role in the lives of all Broncos. Thank you to our Dads for weathering the bitter cold temperatures to open the car doors for our students this week. Not only does it keep our students safe but helps speed up the carpool drop-off each morning.

Our Dads didn’t stop at carpool this week, they made our little girls feel extra special as they hosted the annual Daddy-Daughter Dance at the DCC. There is nothing like a bond between a Daddy and his girl(s). Thank you, men, for making it a night to remember!

Armstrong Bradfield Preschool Association made their annual ABPA Home Tour presentation to Armstrong and Bradfield Elementary during the Kindergarten Readiness meeting. ABPA had a record breaking year with the Home Tour Team: President Rachel Huff, President Elect Krystle Womack, and the ABPA Home Tour Committee Cindy Booker, Megan Morrow, Hayley Eckert, Charlotte Hunt, Landen Tillery, and Lisa Shaddock. We are grateful for their support and generous gift to assist in many areas that benefit our Broncos and Eagles. Thank you, ladies, for an incredible job and your generosity!

Last week’s Writer of the Week was first grader, Lydia Allen, from Mrs. Novak’s class. Her assignment was to write a poem using her senses where Lydia chose to write her poem in a riddle form. She did a fabulous job using imagery to provide the listeners clues about a banana. Thank you, Lydia, for sharing such a unique poem that kept the listeners attention. Great job!

I encourage you to check out this week’s Broncoland photos.

I look forward to seeing you and your children at the front door!

Join the Instructional Materials Reconsideration Committee

HPISD parents who are interested in serving on the Instructional Materials Reconsideration Committee should submit an interest form by Jan. 26. Per EF (LOCAL), in the event that a book or other instructional resource is challenged, a reconsideration committee will be convened to review the resource and determine whether it should remain in use. Each time there is a need for a reconsideration committee, members will be randomly selected from the list of volunteers in accordance with administrative regulations. Each reconsideration committee shall consist of at least seven members. The chair shall be a District-level administrator and a non-voting member. The remaining committee members shall consist of an equal number of District staff and parents who are not employed by the District. Parents/Guardians who serve on a reconsideration committee shall have students enrolled at campuses with the grade level in which the challenged instructional resource is being used.

Committee members can choose to remove themselves from the list of volunteers at any time. The administration will work to accommodate the schedules of committee members. If you have any questions, please contact Deputy Superintendent Dr. Shorr Heathcote at heathcs@hpisd.org.

A Message from our PTA President, Laura McCallan

I can’t believe it but we are less than 2 weeks out from our annual Science Fair. This year, the Science Fair will take place on Friday, February 2. Our Science Fair Chairs have been working hard securing some amazing judges, coordinating prizes, and planning a super fun all-student celebration in the afternoon. I hope the kids are having fun working on their projects at home. If you haven’t registered but plan to, please do so by January 28 at 10PM at the link in the eBulletin.

I’d like to give a huge thank you to the Bradfield Dads Club for the epic Father Daughter Dance on Thursday night. I know the daughters (and dads) had a great time dancing the night away!

We’ve had some crazy weather the past few weeks, complete with a couple of wind storms that took out a few of our Community Partner banners around campus. Thank you to our VPs of Development Kristy Ferguson & Liz Wilson and Donor Relations Chairs Erika Burton & Madison Strode for quickly removing the ripped banners, and coordinating replacement with new ones! I’m so grateful that I can always count on you ladies to help us keep those banners up, whether you’re hanging them in the extreme heat of August or re-hanging them in the extreme cold of January!

Go Broncos!

Laura McCallan
