Quiz: What city has the largest Fourth of July parade in all of Georgia? It was too easy – Dunwoody, of course! Independence Day is just around the corner, and CAC will be marching with Boy Scout Troop 764, who is doing a food drive for CAC! They will be pushing grocery carts the length of the parade, collecting nonperishable food for our three Mini-Market locations. How cool is that?
The number of people coming to our food pantries is up 57% so far this year over last. Need is still great, and you can help. Come on out and bring food stuffs with you from our most-needed foods.
Here is a look at the impact the CAC community had on neighbors’ needs last year:

We need you, our community, to remain faithful to the task of helping our neighbors. Your contributions make a difference every day.

Opportunity to help: Tools for School program
|
Are you interested in helping us get over 1000 kids in need ready for school? We'll be packing brand-new backpacks with age-appropriate school supplies and distributing them during July and early August. Help us put kids on even footing for this school year!
Give your time: contact schoolsupplies@ourcac.org to let us know you're interested in helping pack backpacks or distributing them in our community.
Give items/funds: donate directly or donate school supplies (see our most-needed list). For just $50, we can use our wholesale contacts to source a new backpack and all needed school supplies for a child in need.
| |
All extra supplies not used will help stock our Teacher's Supply Closet, used by teachers to provide materials for kids and projects through the school year.

Summer Lunches program: keeping kids fed over the summer
"The choices [available] are so much better than before! We're really grateful."
- Summer Lunches participant
We've been feeding over 600 kids every week since the beginning of June at our three Mini-Market locations, providing key foods like milk, fruit cups, and easy-to-prepare meals - as well as access to choose from the rest of the store, too! Kids that usually receive free or reduced lunch at school are covered over the break with our Summer Lunches program.

You can help keep families in their homes
"What does my home mean to me? My home means a place where I can feel safe and secure, because I know my family is there to protect me. A place where I feel loved by everyone one around me, my family and friends and my pets. A place where I can share laughter with everyone around me. And a place where I can be myself."
– Daphne, Age 8
Last year, CAC helped prevent 636 evictions - and the need for financial assistance keeps rising. With your help, we can prevent hundreds more and keep kids like Daphne in their homes. Join us at CAC in helping our neighbors in need; please consider donating to our emergency fund today.
