VALDOSTA- Georgia Senator Ellis Black and Mayor John Gayle are scheduled to attend the SoopaFitt health fair on October 14, 2017 at the MLK Memorial Park. A Proclamation ceremony will start at 12:00 PM. The Mayor is expected to proclaim October 14, 2017 as SoopaFitt Family Day in Valdosta.
SoopaFitt Family Day, is a one-of-a-kind health and wellness exposition and community event. SoopaFitt serves as 21
st century public engagement designed to inspire and encourage individuals to embrace a life of health and wellness in an effort to prevent obesity. On Saturday, October 14, 2016 SoopaFitt stakeholders, American Kinetics LLC and Walgreens, CareSource, Georgia DPH, Georgia Spartans and Rivers Radio Group Valdosta will present the 2017 SoopaFitt Health Expo and Street Festival.
SoopaFitt Health Expo and Street Festival will help the community by providing health and wellness education, medical screenings, employment services, insurance claims clinic, pharmaceutical consultations, health product samples, fitness demonstrations, hurricane relief toiletry giveaways, Super Hero Kids Zone, Free food and beverage while supplies last, live entertainment, celebrities and more.
The SoopaFitt Health Expo and Street Festival will take place near the corner of the MLK Memorial Park 201 E. Martin Luther King Drive, Valdosta GA 31601; and along the street closure route of Florida Avenue, Patterson Street, MLK Jr. Street, South Ashley Street, that surround the historic Liberty Theater, St. Paul AME Church and current QUOLA Building. The health fair is from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and will feature local performers and celebrities.
SoopaFitt has a strong obesity prevention and community partnership with the Corporate Sponsors and Government Agencies that has existed for 4 years. The Lowndes County DPH will administer multiple programs at the 2
rd Annual SoopaFitt Valdosta including WIC Program, Health Promotion Program, 1
st Care, and hemoglobin screenings. Walgreens will provide coupons for blood pressure monitors and free flu shots. CareSource will provide the public with value information and giveaways. Play-On Foundation, Inc. will provide Hurricane Disaster Plans and low calorie snacks. Children of all ages will have an opportunity play and exercise on Rockin Roland’s Jumpin Inflatables Monster Obstacle Course and Castle Bouncer. Rivers Radio Group sister stations 92.9 Country and 96.7 FM will broadcast live.
