Good morning Head Start,
The announcement you’ve been waiting for is here - the Office of Head Start has released the final set of rules per the NPRM. While today’s release is unofficial, this document mirrors the rules that will become official on Wednesday. Read the press release from OHS here.
I know this is a busy time of year for you and these are a lot of new rules to digest. You are not alone. We are working hard to give you the tools needed to make this transition. Our immediate focus will be those rules that have shorter timelines and creating opportunities for you to share with peers and the Region 9 office. Together, we can and will lighten the load.
HSC is hosting a virtual Q&A session with the Region 9 Office of Head Start on Tuesday, September 3 from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm. We’re also working with the Region 9 Association to invite our friends from the rest of the region. Before you register, take a minute to collect the questions you’d like answered as they are requested in the registration process. Your questions will be submitted to OHS anonymously prior to the session. Once you’ve gathered your questions, register here.
We’ve created a resource page on our website for the new rules and implementation tools. You can find it from our homepage by clicking on “Resources” and “HSPPS Updates (NPRM),” or use this direct link. We are in the process of comparing the NPRM and the final rule, which will be posted on our website as soon as possible. This page will continually be updated as we identify additional resources – please don’t hesitate to send me anything you’d like us to share on it.
We are stronger together, and I look forward to working with you over the coming months to support your program through these changes. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if we can be of service.
Sincerely,
Melanee Cottrill
Executive Director,
Head Start California
