Social Gatherings
The Victories community is rich in talent, passions, and experiences, and there are never enough opportunities to share them with each other. We hope to change this with Victories Social Gatherings, which will foster meaningful experiences within the community while raising money for the organization.
Host a Gathering!
Victories is looking for Alumni and their Significant Others and friends to host Social Gatherings and to share their talents, passions, and experiences with the community. These Social Gatherings will be hosted throughout 2015, so whenever you can host, we'd love to have you.
The gatherings are for 6-8 people at your home, business, or other location of your choosing. You set the date, time, and program, and Victories handles the registration. These are social afternoons or evenings where people can gather and meet others in the Victories community.
Previous Gatherings have included the following:
- Italian Dinner & Conversation
- Relationships: Dinner & Discussion
- Storytelling Through Poetry: Dessert & Conversation
- Greek Village Fare Dinner
See sample gatherings and find out more here.

Significant Others Meeting Hosts Needed!
During every BreakThrough and Wisdom Years Weekend, we offer significant others, close family, and friends the opportunity to attend a meeting and learn a little about the impact of the weekend experience and how they might wish to respond when their men return home.
Victories is looking for BeakThrough and Wisdom Years Alumni and their spouses or significant others who would like to host a Significant Others Meeting for BreakThrough and/or Wisdom Years Weekends in 2015.
The meetings are held at your home on either a Saturday or Sunday of a BreakThrough or Wisdom Year Weekend. The meetings usually last from one to two hours. It is a great opportunity to share your experience and wisdom with others.
If interested, Victories will provide information about what the meetings entail and how you can best facilitate these meetings.
If you would like to be a host for a weekend this spring or fall,
please contact the Victories Office:
admin@victoriesformen.org or 312.604.5013.

Happiness is Only the Cart: Love is the Horse Special Events with George E Vaillant MD
We wanted to share information about this special event next week. Dr. Vaillant was the Director of the Harvard Grant Study of Adult Development for 30 years. This study followed two cohorts of men since 1938/1940. Come out and hear about the findings of the study which followed these men for over 70 years. This study's goal was to identify predictors of health aging. The results show that happiness is achieved by loving and being loved.

Victories transforms the lives of men through weekend and group programs which lead them to deeper self-awareness, greater self-confidence, and stronger relationships. Our weekends and group programs are designed by professionals, supervised by licensed practitioners, and based on widely accepted clinical principles.
The BreakThrough Weekend is a decisive and vital step towards removing the barriers that stand between the lives we lead and the lives we seek.
Wisdom Years Weekend
The Wisdom Years Weekend helps men over the age of 50 begin to answer a challenging and profound question: How do I want to live the rest of my life?
Shadow Weekend: Discovery, Acceptance & Empowerment
The Shadow Weekend helps men achieve greater wholeness, increased power, and improved relationships by guiding them to discover and own unacknowledged parts of themselves.
BreakThrough Weekend II: The Best Self | The BreakThrough II weekend offers an advanced opportunity for BreakThrough alumni to continue their personal work, reconnect with their initial weekend, and discover and celebrate their best selves.
Personal Growth Groups
Victories Personal Growth Groups offer weekend participants a place to continue their growth with the support of their peers and the larger Victories community.
Victories Open Circle (www.meetup.com/victories)
This is a weekly, drop-in, support group. The purpose of this meeting is to provide a safe place for men to share, find support, and offer support to other men.
A Day of Victories (Annual Event)
For Mental Health Professionals
Victories programs accelerate men's progress in therapy by helping them build an increased capacity to engage openly and effectively in the therapeutic process.
Our organization and its founders, Bob Mark and the late Buddy Portugal, have been honored by The American Family Therapy Academy with its Innovative Contribution to Family Therapy award. Bob and Buddy also received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Family Institute at Northwestern University.
