BRAZIL CHURCHES IN DISTRESS

Flooding is making churches and homes unusuable.

The following is a letter from Mike Martin, Field Director for Baptist World Mission. Please read the portion offered but do not fail to read the entire letter. This is a very bad situation as told by Mike Martin.

"Dear Brother Jan, brothers and sisters from the churches of the United States,

I am writing this letter to share the situation we are facing here in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. At the end of April and in the early days of May, our state was hit by extremely severe rains, lasting at least five days, causing significant damage both in the northern and central parts, as well as in the state capital.

While our local church has been relatively spared, with only three families affected, the situation in many other areas is critical. Thousands of people in the metropolitan region are homeless, and we are working tirelessly in partnership with other churches to help the victims. We have received donations from other parts of Brazil and are using these resources for home reconstruction, as well as purchasing clothes and furniture for those who lost everything."

Read the complete letter.

ORH has sent $3000 to help Pastor Wesley, disciple of Mike Martin, who has agreed to direct the ORH funds for their best usage. Please pray for the people of this area as churches' minister to needs,

Pray ORH will have the money necessary to help as more is needed based upon Pastor Wesley's budgets submitted to ORH.

ALBANIA MEDICAL TEAM 2024

GREAT PICTURE OF THE TEAM

Our director, Daniel Jones, DMSc, PA-C, lead a team into Albania in May of 2024. Baptist World Mission missionaries, Michael and Jennifer Fiocchi, were great to work with and constantly mindful of giving the Gospel to those who came to the clinic.

Dan sent the following report about the clinic.

"In May of 2024, ORH conducted a medical clinic in Marikaj, Albania with a team of 56 volunteers. Medical professionals and non-medical workers from the United States and Albania comprised the team assisting veteran missionaries, Michael and Jennifer Fiocchi.

The clinic was held at a children's home, and over seven hundred people came from Marikaj and surrounding villages.  ORH was once again blessed with a skilled and compassionate team.  Each patient received their choice of medical, dental, and optometry care.  It was a great blessing to have a foot specialist and a wound care nurse on this team. The patients appeared to be overjoyed with the special care they received.

Pastors Robert Stroup and James Boorugy shared the evangelism responsibilities preaching 141 presentations of a very clear message of the Gospel.  Because most who came to the clinic claimed Islam as their religion, it was emphasized that all were welcomed and encouraged to attend a Gospel message while waiting for the pharmacy to fill their prescriptions. Seventy of those who heard the Gospel presentation made professions of faith.

The church in Marikaj will follow up those who came to the clinic."

The ORH clinics are great ways to reach thousands with the Gospel. Over time as the Gospel is preached many hundreds have come to faith in Christ alone for their eternal salvation. They receive great health care and the invitation to hear the Gospel. Please pray ORH will be very effective in God's hands.

Westwood Christian School provides Life-Saving Packs for Israeli Communities

SOLDIERS RECEIVING LIFE-SAVING PACKS

In March and April 2024, Chris Morales sent a request to ORH for help to purchase materials for life-saving medical bags designed by Dr. Asaf Rabin, Head of the Vascular Department at the Emek Hospital in Afula and a Lieutenant Colonel in the IDF. This need was brought to Chris's attention by Dr. Rabin who lives in Chris's town. After being contacted Chris realized it was strongly possible that many of the wounded that will benefit from these bags will be in non-military communities.

Chris elaborated on the communities who would benefit from the medical bags.

"Most of these communities do not have the medical equipment necessary to handle a significant event • Those that do have medical equipment have found it to be either insufficient or outdated. • These communities are largely on their own when it comes to procuring medical supplies....

We have an opportunity to personally connect with up to 20 communities (perhaps more) for the cause of Christ. That would be 20 plus communities that we could establish relationships with for the purpose of telling them why we are helping them."

When ORH published Chris's request for help, Westwood Christian School in the Miami area responded with a school fund raiser. The school is a ministry of First Baptist Church of Westwood Lakes. Pastor Mortensen and his staff working with the students raised $7000 to help Chris. The total need is approximately $55,000.

Chris also gave a general list of items in the bags.

"Each bag is outfitted with equipment according to IDF Medical Corps standards & upgraded according to Dr. Rabin’s expertise, including:

Laryngoscope, endotracheal tubes, air-ways, Ambu & mask, Central line kit

Combat Application Tourniquets & silicone tourniquets for arterial bleeding control, medical suture kit

Chest drains & trocar catheter kit

Dressings & bandages

Urinary catheters kit

Intravenous fluids, narcotics & analgesic drugs, antibiotics (intravenous & oral), blood pressure monitor • burn kit: bandages, dressings, & creams.

and more..."

Chris sent this thank you video to ORH which ORH forwarded to Westwood Christian School. ORH sends thanks also to the wonderful people and students at Westwood.
