INDUCTION CEREMONY SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2023. TICKETS AVAILABLE SOON!

Braniff Airways Foundation has selected four impressive inductees as the next recipients of the Braniff Airways Foundation Hall of Fame Award. The inductees for 2023 are as follows:

Mr. Ed Kuykendall - Customer Service Agent

Ms. Sue Pedler Golden (posthumous induction) - Flight Attendant (Photo 2)

Mr. Floyd Corsey - Flight Attendant (Photo 3)

Ms. Betty Green Bateman Atchison - Flight Attendant (Photo 4)

From the amazing dedication of each one of these fine recipients to their impressive careers at Braniff combined with their love of aviation and the airline industry were key points that led the Foundation's Board of Directors to its selections. In addition, each recipient brings singular attributes that weighed heavily on the selection committee’s final selections:

Mr. Ed Kuykendall - Ed is currently serving as the President of Braniff Retirement Club and is always serving up a huge smile and a wonderful Braniff story. Be sure and ask him about the time when Bob Hope and Bing Crosby came up to his ticket counter at Love Field! Ed epitomizes the true Braniff way of welcoming passengers to the best airline experience and today he continues that tradition as President of the Retirement Club. Ed and his wife Sharron are great friends that I am lucky to have today!

Posthumously Ms. Sue Pedler Golden - The loss of Sue Golden in January of this year was unexpected and to this date we are all still trying to figure out how make Braniff work as beautifully and smoothly as she did throughout her life. We miss her so much and as I said when we lost her, she is the definition of a goddess. It is my honor to have this chance to celebrate her legacy.

Mr. Floyd Corsey - A smile, an enlightening conversation, a laugh and an endearing personality is clearly what Braniff saw in Floyd Corsey when he was hired in 1974 for the position of flight attendant. Floyd, defines the definition of the best of inflight service. His expertise in providing exemplary service to his passengers is without challenge. I am honored to call him one of my best friends and I am equally honored to have this opportunity to honor his legacy. Ms. Sue Pedler Golden nominated Floyd for this award in the summer of 2022.

Ms. Betty Green Bateman Atchison - If there is one person that we can all thank for ensuring that Braniff flight attendants were able to marry the one that they loved and continue at the job they loved so dearly, is Betty Atchison. She fought and won her case to have the right to marry and still continue to fly. She is a legend and I am so glad to have this opportunity to honor and give back to her since she gave so much to all of us and Braniff.

The induction ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, beginning at 2PM at Frontiers of Flight Museum Auditorium. The awards event will be hosted by Braniff Airways Foundation Board Member David Preziosi who will emcee a this very special event. A special tribute video will be created to honor each inductee’s lifetime of achievements and a special award will be sent to the inductee and their family from Braniff Airways Foundation's Board of Directors. This year, each nominee will be interviewed by Mr. Preziosi and a special remembrance of Sue Golden will be presented by her fellow Braniff Flight Attendants.

The Foundation is very honored to have this opportunity to nominate these wonderful inductees and celebrate their enduring legacies. The 2023 recipients will join our first inductee Mr. John Allen Pierce, who was admitted in 2014, followed by Ms. Jean Duncan and Jack Witherspoon, who were both inducted in 2016; Captain Orville Rogers, who was admitted in 2017; Ms. Yvonne Crum, Ms. Kathy Logan Smith (honorary induction), Ms. Val Piburn, Ms. Karen Aubry, Ms. Dorcas Robinson Taylor and Mr. Mike S. Braniff, who were inducted in 2018 and Paul Revere Braniff, James B. Lawrence, Robert E. Culp, Don Maynard and Mrs. Helen Hopkins Adair, who were inducted in 2019. A joint induction was conducted for 2020 and 2021 inductees that included Elizabeth A. Sheppard, Patricia “Pat” Greer Harris, Lawrence Lyle Eberly, Kathy Logan Smith, Marilyn Anne Bowling and Joe Mitchell. In 2022, the inductees were Ms. Fran Claycomb Blanchard; Mr. J. T. Watson and Captain Frank W. Maddock (posthumous induction).
