Internet Connectivity Comes to Heiberg Forest

Heiberg Forest now has internet connectivity in its classrooms, the maintenance garage, and main office. ESF users already connected to ESF's Evergreen network on the Syracuse campus should automatically connect to Heiberg Forest's Evergreen network when they are on-site.

Check Out Traveling Exhibits at Moon

Moon Library is hosting three traveling exhibits from the Central New York Library Resources Council in 2024 relating to New York state history. You can find them staged in the library’s entryway. 


  • February | Two Hundred Years on the Erie Canal: This exhibit documents the importance and lasting impact of the Erie Canal in shaping New York state and beyond. 
  • April | Immigration in New York State, 1650-1950: This exhibit focuses on the impact of European immigration on all regions of New York state and the challenges faced by new arrivals. 
  • October | Recognizing Women's Right to Vote in New York State: This exhibit charts the development and evolution of the Women’s Suffrage movement in New York. 

Students: Help Welcome the Next Class of Mighty Oaks

Be an Orientation Leader (OL) and help welcome the next class of Mighty Oaks to ESF!


Applications are being accepted for 2024 Orientation Leaders. Every year, approximately 50 OLs welcome first-year students into college life. Be a friendly face in a crowd, answer questions, and provide guidance as our newest students navigate the college experience. Don't worry you'll receive training!

Student Conference | Call for Abstracts

The Graduate Student Association and the Mighty Oak Student Assembly are seeking abstracts for the CNY Conference on Environmental Science and Studies.

This free conference is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. Research students may submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations as sessions or workshops.

Come to the Inclusive Excellence Welcome Reception

The Inclusive Excellence Welcome Reception is a celebration honoring our diverse students and employees.


Tuesday, Jan. 23 I 3 – 4:30 p.m. I Gateway Center


The campus community is invited to attend, where we will recognize fellow community members who have diverse backgrounds that are historically absent in STEM-centered higher education. Hear about services and opportunities available through ESF offices and student organizations then enjoy getting to know people while sharing a delicious meal!

Save the Date: Sustainability Action Plan Social

A College-wide social will give the ESF community the opportunity to review and provide feedback on the College’s first-ever Sustainability Action Plan (SAP) all while mixing and mingling.


Tuesday, Feb. 6 I 2:30 – 5:30 p.m. I Gateway Center


Overarching topics include: 

  • Academics and research 
  • Administration, leadership, and planning 
  • Campus and community engagement 
  • Facilities and operations 
  • Inclusion, diversity, equity, and access 


Stop in as your schedule allows! Whiteboards will be placed throughout the room for people to comment on what they like, what they think is missing, or any other input they would like to share. 


Special Notes:

  • Refreshments will be provided.
  • The Office of Alumni Relations is sponsoring a happy hour from 4:30-5:30 p.m. IDs will be checked at the door. 
  • 1.5 hours of release time is approved for CSEA employees to attend this event. Employees should discuss with their supervisor in advance if they will be attending.
