A Message from the Executive Director

In just a few days, 18 members of our 2024 Boston Marathon Team will be heading to Hopkinton to participate in the 128th running of the Boston Marathon. Race day will be the last step in an enormous undertaking that began months ago. The team has been training hard and raising funds for the Boston Bulldogs—so that we can continue to build community support and touch lives affected by drug and alcohol addiction.

It’s not too late to learn more about the team and support their efforts.

Also, on Sunday May 19, 2024, we will host our 9th annual Run for Recovery 5K & Tribute at Franklin Park in Boston. Hundreds of runners, walkers, volunteers, members of the recovery community, sponsors and supporters will converge to support this worthwhile event. Registration is open, a few sponsorship options are still available – details are on our website.

Our Marathon Team and Run for Recovery 5K & Tribute are supported by annual sponsors and event fundraisers. Donations directly support Club programs including our Weekly Runs, Junior Bulldogs, Full Circle, Leadership programs, Meditation and More, and Member Support. Also, our Giving Back and Outreach programs take place at area recovery centers, sober houses, prisons and health and wellness organizations.

Your participation and support speak volumes to those in the Boston Bulldogs community -- to those in recovery and their family members who feel isolated, alone, and stigmatized as well as to friends, family, caregivers, healthcare professionals and the community at large. Thank you for recognizing the value of an integrative approach to wellness and recovery and for sharing it with others! Lives depend upon it!

Be well,

Jim

Program Updates

Outreach

We bring a Boston Bulldogs sense of community and an integrative approach to wellness to those not able to access our weekly runs. This includes outreach to all levels of care, locked facilities, and beyond. We are a Club that believes in second chances. Everyone deserves them!

Junior Bulldogs

We are currently visiting the kids at the Italian Home for Children in Jamaica Plain as well as kids at Algonquin Heights in Plymouth to help them work on their wellness, running, and confidence in themselves. We are also preparing some of them to participate in our Run for Recovery 5K & Tribute.

Leadership Team

We would not be where we are without the help of our Club leaders! Their efforts inform the day-to-day experience of our members -- at weekly runs, Full Circle, Junior Bulldog programs, and Giving Back programs.

We recently welcomed two new Leaders. We are deeply appreciative for the example, compassion, and energy they offer so freely.

Full Circle

Our Full Circle Program has welcomed 10 new participants since the start of the year. Currently we have members participating in all 3 levels of the program which is a testament to their commitment to wellness and the value of the program. We look forward to working with each member on their specific goals.

Meditation and More!!!

On March 20th, "Coach" Mike Ferullo unveiled a new Boston Bulldogs program called Meditation and More which will provide on-line meditation sessions several times a week and its own podcast. Meditation and More will be an important part of our “integrative approach,” another tool in the wellness and recovery toolbox!

This free program, open to the public, invites into the Club people who might not have found their way to us before -- underscoring that we are far more than just a running club.

Weekly Runs!

The Boston Bulldogs Running Club welcomes all those adversely affected by addiction -- people in recovery, their friends, family members, healthcare providers, supporters and advocates. Weekly runs for runners and walkers in Chestnut Hill, Quincy, Plymouth and Needham are at the core of our mission.

Join us! Make wellness and community part of your life.
