Notes for April 7, 2022

Jankowski Peter Head Shot.png

A Note from

Fr. Pete Jankowski

Welcome to our New and Improved Notes! As we approach Holy Week, we thought a better email experience might help get out what is going on at the Border Town Parishes. In this link, you can read my messages for the week and any pertinent information you might need to know about what is going on at the parish!

As we begin the holiest week of our Church’s liturgical year, I would like to thank Ana Rivas & David Surprenant for helping our eight individuals in RCIA to receive their Easter sacraments this year. With John Rehmer (St. Patrick’s), Kim Emerson (St. Anne’s) and the holy work of our catechists this last year, we are most blessed that our parishes continue to grow, welcoming more families and youth to our parishes and communities. All the Mass times can be found on the front cover of the bulletin.

One of my pet projects was to record All Four Sung Passion Narratives on our parish website. With the help of Fr. Michael Magiera, FSSP (pastor of St. Joseph’s Church in Rockdale) and his lead musician Daniel Lucetta, this dream has become a reality. We do not have the resources currently to sing any of the narratives at the parishes I serve but this certainly is a beautiful way to get in the spirit of Holy Week and the story of the Lord’s Passion this liturgical year. For the time being, we still offer the online Masses for our Homebound Parishioners as our gift to you.

I also wish to thank Todd Clark. Paul Gelino, Gene Rademacher and the folks from Cousins & Able Plumbing for helping us resolve our $6,000 Septic Problem here at the church. I believe our septic system was installed around the time our beloved church was built in the 1910s and was in serious need of renovation. $6,000 later, we were able to resolve this “stinking” problem for the sake of anyone who uses our church hall for the various functions we host. If anyone wishes to help us offset the costs of this project, please contact the parish office (just three pew donations would more than cover the cost of this project!).

We worked out a deal with Hove Nissan in Bourbonnais to provide a car for a Hole in One Promotion for our Golf Outing on June 18th. We are looking for $100 Golf Hole Sponsors, donations for our silent auction and raffle prizes… and we are looking for a bunch of golfers! Rick Preston and Mary Jo Boicken are working diligently on this project. If you can help in any way, please feel free to contact them.

Finally… much thanks to Grand Knight David Wheeler and the Knights of Columbus for their donation of office furniture at the parish! This last week was the end of our Fish Fry dinners that the Knights sponsor each year. What the Knights offer this parish is a wonderful testimony to building the “Body of Christ,” especially when each “part” of the body does its share of the Lord’s good work.

God Bless! – Fr. Pete
