Greetings From The Library Staff

Dear Friend,

School’s finally out, and summer is well and truly upon us. As always, July and August are busy months at the library, as our annual summer reading program for children kicks off with lots of exciting activities and fabulous incentives to keep on reading. You’ll be pleased to know that Miss Jes and Mx. Ru have worked very hard to refresh our collection of children’s books for all interests. Don’t forget that we also have a new Summer Reading Challenge for adults, ages 17 and up – come on in and pick up a score card and a suggested reading list.

Summer is also an ideal time to explore all that the tristate area has to offer. Our museum passes is a great way to sample some of New Jersey’s cultural attractions free of charge for Boonton library cardholders.

Warm regards,

Laurie Harden Art Show Opening

Friday, July 5, 5-7 p.m.

We are delighted to have the opportunity to showcase a collection of portraits by one of Boonton’s well-known and well-loved artists. Please join us for a conversation with Laurie and light refreshments, First Friday in July.

Backyard Concert with Joe Cirotti Trio

Sunday, July 21, 5-6:30 p.m.

The Trio bills itself as a well-oiled string band from the shadows of Northwest Jersey’s Appalachian ridge, fusing their multi-instrumentalist upbringings with a passion for the roots of American folk, jazz, country, and bluegrass. Bring your lawn chair and a beverage, lean back, and enjoy!

New Tutor Policy

During the summer months, many local tutors use the library for their sessions. This is a friendly reminder from the library staff that we do have policies governing the use of library spaces for such activities. If you are a tutor or parent of a student, please take a moment to review our policy here.

Upcoming Summer Events @ BHPL

July Events Calendar

Although the Boonton Holmes Library is open 7 days a week, there are, of course, times when we are closed. However, that doesn’t mean that library cardholders are without access to some great resources online. Here are just a few:

Libby – Ebooks, e-audiobooks and magazines. Readers can choose from thousands of titles to read or listen to on their smart phones, tablets, or Kindles. First-time users should have their library card and pin ready in order to sign up. Access Libby here.

Wall Street Journal – Current and back issues, podcasts, and more. Never be without one of the nation’s most trusted news outlet. Register here to get started.

Mango Language Learning – Language Lessons! Going somewhere exotic this summer? Why not learn a few phrases (or the whole language!) before you leave? The lessons are fun and easy. Register here to start learning.
