Booklet, Book, Both

The simple answer is both - a book and a booklet.

They serve different purposes in expanding your reach and your bottom line. And each situation is different.  You may be looking down your nose at a tips booklet, viewing it as a second-class citizen in the publishing world, even if you are a subscriber to this ezine -- leaving more moolah on the table and less in your pocket because of that.

Think about this:

  • Reach people who want to first sample your knowledge in a tips booklet. They then want more once they realize you can help them content-wise and format-wise.
  • The booklet is a less costly door-opener or leave-behind than a book.
  • You have an instant value-added product to bundle as a gift when someone purchases your book or any other relevant product or service.
  • Providing a product choice to a buyer increases your chance of making a sale. "Which of these is our starting point? (the book or booklet) rather than "Do you want to buy this (book/booklet) or not?" when you have only one publication to offer.

ACTION: Create a booklet from your book or a book from your booklet if you already have one of them. Start with the booklet if you have neither. You can then expand it while already having a product in the booklet.
