Columbus Baseball Invitational returns with Fuchs Mizrachi, 15 other schools


Columbus Torah Academy is gearing up to present the 2024 Columbus Baseball Invitational, scheduled for May 19 through May 21. Featuring a 16-team bracket of schools from across the country, including Columbus Torah Academy and Fuchs Mizrachi School in Beachwood, the free, three-day invitational will be held at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Columbus’ fields at 1125 College Ave. and the Lou Berliner Sports Park at 1300 Deckenbach Road, both in Columbus.

House passes bill that would force Biden to release paused arms shipment to Israel


The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill on Thursday intended to force the Biden administration to deliver a paused arms shipment to Israel. The Israel Security Assistance Support Act condemns U.S. President Joe Biden’s decision to withhold the delivery of 3,500 bombs to Israel, amid the administration’s concerns that the Jewish state would use them in a military operation in the south Gazan city of Rafah.

Israel and the US split over the ‘day after’


In recent weeks, the United States has been holding discussions with several Arab countries regarding the formation of a multinational force that will operate in the Gaza Strip once the current war is over. “The talks haven’t reached the point of what exactly is ‘the war is over,'” an official with knowledge of the discussions told JNS, “because we have so many issues to solve.” A source knowledgeable about the Arab countries’ demands told JNS: “First, there needs to be some kind of Israeli statement regarding the two-state solution. Second, there needs to be a U.S. move towards a Palestinian state. Third, the force must be a U.S.-led force, meaning some kind of U.S. personnel on the ground.”

Sonoma State University’s president suspended after caving to protesters


Mildred García, chancellor of California State University, has announced the placement of Mike Lee, president of Sonoma State University, on administrative leave, citing his decision to buckle to Israel boycott advocates. García said in her statement on Wednesday that the previous evening, Lee had “sent a campuswide message concerning an agreement with campus protesters,” but the “message was sent without the appropriate approvals.” Vowing to provide additional details soon, García stated that “for now, because of this insubordination and consequences it has brought upon the system, President Lee has been placed on administrative l​eave.”
