Arova owners open kosher restaurant Mamilla in downtown Arcade


Mamilla, a new kosher and vegetarian restaurant in The Arcade in downtown Cleveland, brings the style and food of Israel and makes it accessible to all in the city. The restaurant is owned and operated by Dan Kaminski and Elisha Kaminski, who also run Arova in South Euclid. They launched a soft opening of the restaurant last month.

Ohio Rep. Forhan reprimanded after confrontations regarding Israel-Hamas war


Ohio Rep. Elliot Forhan of South Euclid was stripped of his committee assignments, disallowed caucus staff services and was instructed to refrain from contacting staff, according to a letter sent from Ohio House Minority Leader C. Allison Russo Nov. 16.

Magen David Adom paramedics recall Oct. 7 horror



Hadas Ehrlich attended Shabbat services Nov. 8 at B’nai Jeshurun Congregation in Pepper Pike with a message. Her words immediately transported worshipers 5,991 miles away to Ehrlich’s homeland, where she found herself in the middle of a war zone on Oct. 7. That’s the day Hamas attacked Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking about 240 captives.

Friedman receives SCLC’s President’s Award


Civil rights lawyer Avery Friedman received the Southern Christian Leadership Conference President’s Award at the 64th annual Convention of the National SCLC on Aug. 25 in Arlington, Va. The conference aligned with the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington when the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his “I Have a Dream” speech on Aug. 28, 1963, which was celebrated on Aug. 26, 2023.

Three Hamas company commanders killed in Gaza Strip


Sirens sounded in Israeli communities near the Gaza border on Monday morning as Israeli forces continued to attack Hamas terror targets in the Strip. Israel Air Force strikes killed three Hamas company commanders over the past 24 hours, in targeted strikes based on intelligence.

Israel posts pics of the 40 kids held hostage by Hamas in Gaza



On Monday, World Children’s Day, Israel tweeted a picture collage of the 40 Israelis under the age of 18 being held hostage by Hamas in Gaza. The day commemorates the Declaration of the Rights of the Child by the United Nations General Assembly on Nov. 20, 1959.
