Free Breakfast for All Students Beginning 2024-2025 School Year
The Boise School Board has approved a new initiative to provide free breakfast for all students, starting in the 2024-2025 school year. This initiative is part of the District's budget and aims to enhance student well-being and academic performance. Dave Wagers, the Board President, emphasized that offering a nutritious breakfast to all students promotes health and creates a more inclusive learning environment.
“Breakfast is often referred to as the most important meal of the day, and this holds especially true for students before they begin their academic day,” added President Wagers. “By providing free breakfast to all of our students, we are not only promoting health and well-being but also creating a more inclusive and supportive learning culture.”

Lincoln Early Learning Center Opens for 2024-2025 School Year
Boise School District is set to open its newest addition, the Lincoln Early Learning Center, on August 19, 2024. This state-of-the-art facility aims to serve pre-kindergarten (pre-K) students (ages 3-5), providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for young learners, including special education pre-k students.
"Inclusive early childhood settings offer numerous benefits," said Lisa Ramey-Hernandez, Assistant Principal at Lincoln Early Learning Center. "Research shows that children with disabilities in inclusive environments gain significant cognitive, communication, and social-emotional skills. Interactions with typically developing peers foster compassion, empathy, and positive perceptions of individuals with disabilities, enriching the educational experience for all students."
The opening of the Lincoln Early Learning Center, located at 300 W. Fort St., Boise, reflects Boise School District's commitment to early childhood education, recognizing its crucial role in preparing children for future academic success. By investing in early learning, the District aims to provide every child with a strong start, equipping them with the skills and confidence needed to thrive in kindergarten and beyond.
