Boise School District Promotes Mental Health Resources and Support as National Suicide Prevention Month Begins | |
Student well-being is a top priority in Boise Schools.
September is National Suicide Prevention Month, and while we will be investing time with students in our classrooms to talk about this important topic, we also want to ensure families know about the wide array of mental health resources and support services available to all Boise Schools students and families.
We want every student to feel they belong at school and feel supported and valued. We understand that mental health and suicide can be challenging topics to discuss, and we want our students and families to know they're not alone. We invite parents and guardians to take advantage of the numerous resources and programs available through Boise School District. Some of those include:
- How to talk to your child about suicide: an age-by-age guide
- Should your child talk to a counselor? Look for these signs...
- Suicide prevention and intervention programs
- Access to five free counseling sessions for all students, their caregivers, and siblings, made possible by Central District Health and BPA Health
- Information on grief and what to do about it
...and more.
Together, we can work to create a safe and supportive environment where every student can thrive.

Student Device Monitoring for Parents
Boise Schools are committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for our students, both in school and online.
We understand that smartphones and other devices can be a valuable tool for students, both for learning and staying connected with friends and family. However, it is important to ensure that your child is using their device responsibly and safely.
Parental Controls for Student Chromebooks
Boise School District provides parents/guardians with the ability to monitor their student’s activity on their District-assigned digital device via the GoGuardian Parent App:
Parental Controls for Mobile Phones
Parental controls allow you to set limits on your child's screen time, manage the apps they can install and use, and filter inappropriate content.
