This year, as the 2024-2025 school year gets underway, Boise School District is more committed than ever to providing the highest quality education for all students. Lincoln Early Learning Center Opens for 2024-2025 School Year

Boise School District is set to open its newest addition, the Lincoln Early Learning Center, on August 19, 2024. This state-of-the-art facility aims to serve pre-kindergarten (pre-K) students (ages 3-5), providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for young learners, including special education pre-k students.


The three programs housed within Lincoln Early Learning Center include:

  1. Boise Schools Developmental Screening and Evaluation Services
  2. Inclusive Collaboration with the Friends of Children & Families Head Start Program
  3. Boise Schools Early Childhood Special Education Programs


The opening of the Lincoln Early Learning Center, located at 300 W. Fort St., Boise, reflects Boise School District's commitment to early childhood education, recognizing its crucial role in preparing children for future academic success. By investing in early learning, the District aims to provide every child with a strong start, equipping them with the skills and confidence needed to thrive in kindergarten and beyond.

Boise School District has always been highly regarded for academic achievements. At the same time, we have always been considered a leader throughout Idaho and the Pacific Northwest in the area of athletics. Many of our programs have become models for other districts. Ballot Finalized for 2024 Boise School Board Trustee Election

The official ballot for the Boise School Board Trustee Election on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 has been finalized. There will be only one race on this year’s ballot. 


Since only incumbents have filed in Race #1 and only a single (incumbent) candidate in Race #2, these races are considered uncontested. Per Idaho code 33-502B, the uncontested races will not appear on the ballot. The ballot will consist of one contested Trustee race with a two year term. A sample ballot is available on the District’s 2024 Trustee Election webpage. Absentee ballots may also be requested from the District's 2024 Trustee Election webpage. An application for a mail in absentee ballot may be requested at any time up to August 23, 2024.

Attend Boise National College Fair

The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) invites students, parents, and counselors to explore the college search process at the NACAC National College Fair in Garden City, Idaho held on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Expo Idaho.



  • Meet with admission representatives from all types of colleges and universities [2-year, 4-year, public, private, in-state, out-of-state, international]
  • Talk to a college counselor and visit our sponsor tables in the college advising center

Last week, Longfellow Elementary was honored at Preservation Idaho's 47th Orchids & Onions Preservation Awards! Longfellow received the Excellence in Historic Preservation Award, for demonstrated outstanding adherence to preservation, restoration, renovation, or adaptive reuse.

Silver Key Award Recipient

Congratulations to Jillian Carter, a senior at Boise High School, who won a Silver Key Award🗝️ at the national level in this year’s Scholastic Art & Writing Awards! 🎉Jillian won this prestigious award for her poem submission, entitled “I Pray,” which is about the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Music Teachers Featured on International Conference

Two Boise Schools music teachers had the opportunity to present at the International Society for Music Education Works Conference in Helsinki, Finland in July, 2024! 🎶✈️


Amy Wickstrom, choir director at North JHS & Hillside JHS and Aimee Atkinson, choir director at Riverglen JHS co-presented “Rethinking Our Approach to Teaching and Learning in Music Education” with Dr. Lori Gray from Boise State University.


Amy Wickstrom also presented two individual spoken papers entitled, “Finding Success in Music at the Secondary Level for Students with Disabilities” and “Creating Inclusive Secondary General Music: Rethinking Music for All.”

Driver Education Program - Enroll Today!

Are you a parent concerned about your teenager's safety on the road? Look no further! Our driver education program is designed to equip young drivers with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the roads safely. With a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on driving practice, we aim to instill confidence and responsible driving habits in teenagers. Enrolling your teenager in our program not only enhances their driving skills but also reduces the risk of accidents and promotes overall road safety.

  • Quarter 1 sites: Borah, Capital and Timberline
  • Quarter 2 sites: Boise, Borah and Capital

  • Open to students age 14 1/2 to 21. Driving permit must be purchased from DMV in order to register for Driver Education Program.
