Best of BobBlast - Bob's Studio Tips
Varnish Lesson and Bob's Favorite Tape

Welcome Back to Another BobBlast!

Sorry for the delay! We took Memorial Day off...

This Best of BobBlast features a couple of Studio Tips that I teach and use in my workshops. "Why Varnish?" and my "Favorite Studio Tape." Here's a quick review:
Why Varnish?  Every artist has their own favorite techniques for the final coat of their painting. In spite of all the available instructional literature, I am frequently asked to explain what one needs to know about varnishing their own paintings. The following video is a short how-to lesson on the subject, complete with a demonstration!

Here is my take - Varnish Everything.

Now... about the tapeIn every workshop I teach, I'm asked about my adhesive tape and where do I get it? I use it for taping everything - from shipping boxes to temporarily hanging my paper samples on the walls. My favorite tape is a brown Kraft paper tape from Uline.

It is very sticky, holds heavy things to the wall and peels off without removing the wall paint. This stuff works great as a general, all-purpose, studio tape. Uline calls it "Pressure Sensitive Kraft Tape."

Attention Shoppers... do not buy blue "painters' tape" - It's for house painters, not painter-painters! This blue tape is designed to be easily removed so consequently it does not hold things to the wall very long or very well.

Stick It!
