This week's BobBlast was filmed on location at the
Art of the Carolinas in Raleigh, North Carolina. Day 3 - my two workshops were
Abstract Florals from Loose Colorful Splatters and
Loose & Juicy Landscapes.
Setting up to teach a workshop at a convention venue is a little different from an art organization workshop. Because I taught 2 three hour classes, my job was to give my students some good tips that they can quickly and easily use, once they get back to their studios.
Abstract Florals from Loose Colorful Splatters - My intent was to show negative shape painting and practice light source basics.
Loose & Juicy Landscapes - I wanted the students to take away 4 different compositions and play with different paint products.
I always like to include a basic table set-up too - with tips like this:
Only put what you need on your painting table.
If you are right-handed, put your paints, water etc. on the right side of the table!
Keep your water bucket close - at arm's length.
If you are standing, put a brick on the floor to put one foot on. This will help your back!
Now... let's get your hands in paint!
