Key Points from the Regular Meeting

held on July 3, 2024

  • After a Public Hearing, the Board approved in accordance with A.R.S. 42-17104 and A.R.S. 42-17107 (Truth in Taxation Hearing) of Resolution No. 070324-01-PCB for the adoption of the Pinal County FY 2024 - 2025 budget, beginning July 1, 2024, ending June 30, 2025, in accordance with A.R.S. 42-17105 in the amount of $1,115,788,702 with a tax rate of $3.4500. (Item 16)
  • In the Elections Update, Recorder Dana Lewis announced that today was the first day of in-person early voting for the July 30th Primary Election. 124,698 ballots were being mailed out to registered voters, with July 19th being the last day to request an early ballot. Around 800 Poll Workers are undergoing hands-on training ahead of Election Day on July 30th. Finally, Ms. Lewis played a video of last week's visit from the Secretary of State's Office, where the Logic and Accuracy test was conducted and passed. Click below left to view the video. (Item 5)

  • The Board approved two employee-related compensation items. Firstly approving of the pay structure and salaries assigned to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) Law Enforcement Step Plan. And then approving the FY2024-2025 Pinal County Employee Compensation Plan: Across-the-Board Salary Adjustments and Discretionary Performance, Market, Equity Adjustments, Premium Pay, and One-Time Awards. (Items 14/15)
  • The Board approved a Proclamation declaring the month of July 2024 as "Parks and Recreation Month." The Proclamation was read into the record by staff from Pinal County Open Space, Trails, and Regional Parks, who are pictured below with the Board (L to R) Jasmine Guillen, Steven Taylor, Brenna Murphy, Hezekiah Allen, Kelley Fox, and Samuel Bleich.   • The Board approved Chairman Goodman's request to sign a letter of support for the proposed name of the newly reconstructed Florence Bridge, State Route 79, Over Gila River, North of Florence, in memory of Rusty Greer. This letter will be forwarded to the Arizona State Board on Geographic and Historic Names. In the last meeting, Supervisor Goodman recounted how he and Rusty were part of a group of fourteen Scouts taking part in a biking activity in 1972 when they were twelve years old. Rusty Greer was tragically hit by a vehicle on the bridge and did not survive. The application is in collaboration with ADOT and the Arizona State Library, Archives, and Records Department.   • Chairman Goodman appointed Todd Williams to the Transportation Advisory Committee to serve out a District 2 term due to a current vacancy through September 28, 2025. Mr. Williams, a County Employee with Development Services, is pictured right with Supervisor Goodman. (Item 9C)
  • In the County Manager's report, Leo Lew told the Board that he took a tour with LG Energy Solution executives of the new 18,000 sq ft Advanced Manufacturing Training Center, which is being built at Central Arizona College's Superstition Mountain Campus in Apache Junction. The facility will train LG Energy Solution employees and should receive its Certificate of Occupancy in November, with a likely groundbreaking in January. Meanwhile, in recognition of International Women in Engineering Day (June 23rd), he played a video about Lindsay Randall, an engineer with Development Services, who recently became District 3 Project Manager.   • The Board recognized three staff for length of service to Pinal County, all of whom are celebrating 20 years with the County: Danielle Williams, Apprisal Supervisor with the Assessor's Office, Curtis Church, a Server Application Specialist with Information Technology, and Roderick Harrison, a Sworn Sergeant with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office. Danielle is pictured below with the Board, as well as (L to R) Assessor Douglas Wolf, Sheriff Mark Lamb, and Chief Information Officer Robert Stanley, all of whom paid tribute to the recipients. Neither Curtis nor Roderick, who is retiring from PCSO, were able to be in attendance. (Item 2)
