The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) presented to the Board regarding PM 2.5 and Arizona’s Draft Boundary Recommendations for the 2024 Primary Annual PM 2.5 NAAQS. (Item 6)

The Board approved, as presented, two planning and zoning items related to the continued use of a park model and RV park located northeast of Ironwood Drive and Ranch Road in San Tan Valley. (Items 11/12)

Representatives from Digiflight Inc. made a presentation to Pinal County's Government Relations advisors in recognition of their work in the passing of Senate Bill 1670, pertaining to public-private partnership contracts, during the current Arizona legislative session. The Board approved a Proclamation proclaiming the month of August 2024 as "Child Support Awareness Month." The proclamation was read into the record by Nicole Olvera from the Arizona Department of Economic Security. Nicole is pictured below with the Board of Supervisors. (Item 4)

In Supervisor Miller's 2024 state and federal legislative session update, Supervisor Miller told the Board that he recently represented Arizona, as President of the County Supervisors Association, at NACo - the National Association of Counties. He described AI (Artificial Intelligence) as being the highlight of panels and discussions, and described a Plan Review AI Tool which could revolutionize the process. (Item 7)

In the Supervisor District Update item, Supervisor Serdy and Supervisor Miller both praised staff and volunteers who were involved in the Primary Election last week, a sentiment echoed by several community members during Call to the Public. The canvass for the Primary Election takes place in a Special Session Meeting on Monday at 1 p.m. Meanwhile, Vice-Chairman and District 4 Supervisor Jeffrey McClure played a video from yesterday's ribbon-cutting at Oracle Park. In the County Manager's Report, Leo Lew recognized around fifty staff from the IT Department who helped to minimize the impact of the July 19th global Crowdstrike issue on Pinal County services. Additionally, he announced that The Arizona Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) has chosen Pinal County’s IPAZ Project Improvements as the 2023 Project of the Year in its category. The project, officially titled “IPAZ-Hanna and Houser Roads, SR87 to Vail Road & SR87 Intersection Improvements, Pinal County,” received honors in the $5-25 Million Award Category. This distinction also qualifies the project to compete for a national APWA award. Click below to view a video about the project. (Item 2)

In Call to the Public, Assessor Douglas Wolf spoke to remind residents that the deadline for the Senior Freeze is September 1st. It is available to residential homeowners, 65 years of age or older, who meet specific guidelines based on income, ownership, and residency. Members of the public wishing to address the Pinal County Board of Supervisors may do so in person at the Call to the Public section of Regular Board Meetings. Action taken as a result of public comment will be limited to directing staff to study the matter or rescheduling the matter for
further consideration and decision at a later date.
