Board of Education considers recommendations regarding future facility needs

Changes could affect Robberson and Pershing elementary schools.

In November, the Board of Education received the results of a demographic study, which analyzed current and future population trends within the SPS attendance boundaries.

The study identified opportunities for improvement to help address the underutilization of some schools and a projected decline in districtwide enrollment. On Dec. 19, recommended changes were presented to the Board of Education that would impact Pershing K-8 School and Robberson Elementary School.

SPS United: Beth Engelhart, executive director of elementary learning.

"As a leader myself, my personal mission is to invest in the hearts and minds of those around me by loving and serving. I have the honor of serving 10 of the most passionate and influential principals in the state of Missouri. It is my role to walk alongside them to see how we can leverage successes across their campus and to other campuses.

Additionally, I strive to put ideas on the table through instructional coaching in order to meet our district vision of being the choice school in the state of Missouri. Over the last year, watching this group of leaders excel across their campuses has been some of the most rewarding work I’ve ever had the opportunity to be a part of. We are so blessed to have elementary principals who pour into hundreds of students' hearts and minds every day. I’m thankful I get to be a small part of it.” - Dr. Beth Engelhart, executive director of elementary learning.
