Overnight Lane Closures with Stoppages on Georgetown Pike at I-495
During overnight hours on Thursday, August 1st, lanes will be closed in both directions with brief total stoppages on Georgetown Pike (Route 193) near the I-495 interchange as crews activate new traffic signals and complete paving operations. Police will be on-site to assist in directing traffic. Nightly closures will occur between 10 pm and 5 am, with brief total stoppages occurring after midnight through 5 am.
This work is in preparation for crews to open the new ramp from westbound Georgetown Pike to northbound I-495 on Sunday night, August 4th. Beginning around 9 pm on Sunday, crews will move barriers and police will initially direct traffic onto the new ramp while the old ramp is blocked off. All traffic will be shifted onto the new ramp by 5 am on Monday, August 5th. The new, permanent ramp will provide more gradual and smoother access from westbound Georgetown Pike to northbound I-495. This work is part of the I-495 Express Lanes Northern Extension (495 NEXT) project.
