Consent Agenda
The Board approved a number of routine consent items, including gifts and grants to the district, Human Resources transactions, purchase orders and checks, and agreement renewals. Details regarding these items can be found in the Board meeting agenda.
Library Book Donation
Every year, in honor of Day of the Teacher and Classified School Employee Week, the Board of Trustees donates a book to each school library. This year’s book is Maizy Chen's Last Chance, a Newbery Honor-winning book written by Lisa Yee.
2024/25 Academic Calendars
The 2024/25 traditional and year-round academic calendars were adopted by the Board.
Revised Classified Job Descriptions and Salary Adjustments
As part of the district’s ongoing position classification review process, job descriptions are reviewed and salaries are compared with similar positions in neighboring elementary school districts. The Board approved revised job titles, job descriptions, and salary adjustments for the following positions: Program Manager-Early Learning, Preschool Teacher (State-Funded Preschool Program), Family Resource Assistant-Bilingual (Spanish), and Instructional Aide (State-Funded Preschool Program).
Resolution to Reduce Classified Services
The Board adopted a resolution authorizing a reduction in the 2024/25 work year for one classified Preschool Teacher (State-Funded Preschool Program) position.
Districtwide Multipurpose Room Audiovisual System Project
A Notice of Completion was approved for the 2023 Districtwide Multipurpose Room Audiovisual System Project by ICS Services, which included the purchase and installation of new audiovisual equipment at all schools, at a total cost of $272,171.09.
Luther Fabric Shade Structure Sitework Project
The Board approved contracting with M.P. South, Inc. for concrete installation and other sitework surrounding previously installed shade structures in the parking lot and preschool play area at Luther at a total cost of $108,882.50.
Janitorial Supplies, Equipment, and Services
The Board approved a vendor change from Advantage West to Waxie’s Enterprises for the purchase of Waxie janitorial supplies and equipment through June 30, 2024, using a California Multiple Award Schedules contract. Individual orders will be approved via purchase order.
Edible Food Recovery Services
Senate Bill 1383 requires that by 2025 California will recover 20 percent of edible food that would otherwise be sent to landfills to feed people in need. To meet this requirement, the Board approved contracting with Food Finders, Inc., a nonprofit organization that coordinates the collection and distribution of edible food to pantries, shelters, youth programs, and senior centers, at no cost to the district.
Board Compensation for Missed Meeting
Per Board Bylaw 9250, the Board must take action to authorize full compensation for any Board Member who was absent from a meeting. The Board adopted a resolution authorizing full compensation for the month of January for Trustee Sandra Lee, who was unable to attend the January 18, 2024, Board meeting.
