Approval of 2024-25 LTHS Student Handbook and Code of Conduct
The Board approved the 2024-25 LTHS Student Handbook and Code of Conduct. Throughout the course of the 2023-24 school year, the Parent-Teacher Advisory/Behavioral Interventions Board Committee completed a comprehensive review and substantive revision of the Code of Conduct, which is included within our Student Handbook. The committee met on three occasions over the course of six months and consulted with Michelle Todd and Valerie Robert from Hodges Loizzi to ensure that LT’s Code of Conduct is aligned with all applicable laws and board policy. Additionally, routine updates to the Student Handbook were completed through the office of the Director of Student Services and in collaboration with the appropriate district administrators. Routine updates include dates, formatting, and updated hyperlinks. Minor changes to the Student Discipline section included information regarding the use of AI/Generative AI without proper attribution, as well as information regarding restorative practice options. Finally, updates to the Assessment and Research section were also included with the information available at time of print. Additional updates/edits will be completed as needed over the next months and into the 2024-25 school year in an effort to continually maintain the most accurate Student Handbook.
Approval of Shawn Brown Enterprises, Inc. Change Order
The Board approved a Change Order request with Shawn Brown Enterprises, which is the company that is currently performing asbestos removal services for the District related to the renovations at South Campus. This Change Order adds $12,200 to the total contract. The reason for this Change Order is that Happ Builders has determined that they will be able to renovate four additional South Campus toilet rooms than originally planned for the summer of 2024. Those additional renovations will require the additional asbestos removal work.
Approval of Stipend Recommendations
The Board approved additional stipends for the following clubs, activities, and athletic programs:
- Older Adult Connections
- Induction and Mentoring
- Equity Ambassadors
- Girl’s Flag Football
Student Disciplinary Decision
The Board, after consideration in closed session, upheld the May 20, 2024, suspension for Student 2024-001 and approved the recommendation for expulsion of Student 2024-001, as presented.
Strategic Plan Discussion
A summary of LT’s strategic plan progress during the 2023-24 school year, as well as a preliminary list of priorities for the 2024-25 school year was presented at the June 17th meeting. Within the last few weeks of May, each Goal Champion conducted an Action Plan End of Year Meeting to discuss progress related to the goal, and begin to identify which priorities will be most important during the 2024-25 school year. This end of year summary is not meant to provide in-depth information related to each goal and aligned strategies, and we are still developing and finalizing our priority list for 2024-25. However, the information below is meant to highlight the most important work being done related to each goal.
In addition, the core values presented in our Strategic Plan center on our commitment to equity,
inclusion, and the belief that all students can achieve individual levels of life, career, and college
success. This commitment to applying an equity lens to all aspects of our systemic work will help ensure that we identify obstacles and eliminate barriers to student achievement.
