MULTILINGUAL SERVICES UPDATE

Multilingual Services Director Dr. Yadi Alfaro updated the Board of Education on the district's multilingual services program. She discussed the current number and percentage of English Learners, including newcomers; ACCESS test scores; and plans for the 2024-25 school year.

STUDENT ENROLLMENT & STAFFING REPORT

Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Dr. Bill Schmidt presented the annual student enrollment and staffing report, which included information about enrollment history, enrollment projections, and staffing projections.

ESEA GRANT PRESENTATION

Assistant Superintendent for Teaching & Learning Greg Wolcott shared the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) grant plans for the 2024-25 school year by identifying our Title I schools and how funding will be used, how Title II funds will be spent, and how Title IV funds will be utilized.

WEA COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT APPROVED

The Board of Education approved the 2024-29 collective bargaining agreement between the Board of Education and the Woodridge Education Association. Some of the substantive changes included in this five-year contract include salary index, salary, retirement, insurance, stipends, and training/Internal University rates.


Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Dr. Bill Schmidt thanked the WEA and District negotiating teams for their time and effort in fashioning this agreement. The Administration is pleased to be able to continue to work in a collaborative nature with WEA in an effort to ensure that our students have the best educational opportunities available.

RESOLUTION TO TRANSFER FUNDS

The Board of Education approved the resolution to transfer interest earned and available fund balance reserves if needed, as presented.

REVISED 5-YEAR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PLAN

The Board of Education approved the revised five-year capital improvement plan as presented, which includes a list of 20 projects to be completed between FY2025-2029.

WORKERS' COMPENSATION INSURANCE RENEWAL

The Board of Education approved, as presented, the renewal of the workers' compensation insurance program. The school district purchases this insurance through a school cooperative, School Employee Loss Fund (SELF), as administered by Arthur J. Gallagher and Associates and managed by Sedgwick Claims Management Services. Total net cost for the 2024-25 fiscal year will be $97,218.

INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH PUBLIC LIBRARY

The Board of Education approved the intergovernmental agreement (IGA) between Woodridge School District 68 and Woodridge Public Library as presented. This IGA is an agreement to collaborate to share resources and expand learning opportunities for students. Under the terms of this new IGA, Woodridge 68 students, with parent/guardian permission, would automatically be issued a Woodridge Public Library card upon registration for school. Even if a child already has a Woodridge Public Library card, this agreement allows both new and existing library patron students access to the library's online resources while at school.
