Blum University

Over two days at the beginning of October, the entire faculty of Blum Construction gathered at headquarters in Winston-Salem for the Fall session of Blum University. We reviewed the progress and updates from the last 6 months, learned about what's coming next and about new tools that can be used inside and outside of the office, mingled, celebrated professional achievements, and recognized milestones.

STRONG RELATIONSHIPS

Wake Forest Law Students at Kaleideum

As a tradition each year, Blum Construction takes a group of Wake Forest University - School of Law students to a construction site. This year, we traveled to Kaleideum Children's Museum in downtown Winston-Salem to view its awe-inspiring progress and give the students a taste of what goes on at a construction site and how it relates to their future career in law.

Holly Springs Park & Indoor Recreation Center

Town of Holly Springs purchased approximately 56 acres located at 5420 Cass Holt Road in Holly Springs for the purpose of developing a community park. The land is located across the street from the Holly Springs High School campus. A master plan for the park was completed in the Spring of 2022. The park project is anticipated to be funded by a $100M bond to be voted on in November of 2023. This will be the first community park in Holly Springs west of the NC-55 roadway.

Tourists Stadium Renovations - McCormick Field

This project will include updates on player facilities; upgraded LED lights, expanded clubhouses, new workout facilities and batting cages, and an expanded women’s changing room, new locker rooms, a weight room, batting cages, and LED lights.

On the fan-experience side, this includes a new scoreboard, an expanded 360-degree concourse and an expanded front entrance.

Blum Construction has reached a new milestone as the 9th largest N.C. metro-area general contractor, ranked by 2022 statewide billings.

Metro areas include Charlotte, the Triad (Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point) and the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill)

World of Work

Blum had a blast at World of Work showing thousands of 8th and 10th graders from Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools what the construction industry is all about. Students were immersed in the world of construction through machinery, personal protective equipment, augmented reality software, and even hands-on demonstrations of laying block by our masonry division.

Kaleideum Kaleidoscope Ball

On Friday the 13th, Blum Construction attended Kaleideum's Kaleidoscope Ball which is a fundraiser to increase access opportunities, provide camp scholarships, enhance educational programs, and contribute to hands-on learning experiences in the museum. The event was themed "It's Glow Time!", and successfully raised $300,000 for Kaleideum. That's amazing! We are a proud supporter of the Kaleidoscope Ball as we continue our work on the reimagined Kaleideum in Downtown Winston-Salem!

ArtSpace Ribbon Cutting

ArtSpace Charter School hosted a Ribbon Cutting and Fall Festival to celebrate the official opening of the newly constructed Arts Building! We are proud to have been a part of this project from its inception to the Grand Opening. We were just as excited as the students and staff!

Cypress Glen Retirement Community Groundbreaking

Fall is officially here, which makes it a perfect time for a groundbreaking! On Wednesday, October 25th our Blum team was honored to be included in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Cypress Glen Expansion. The new facilities will include residence housing, dining, an auditorium, and a chapel. We cannot wait to see this project come to fruition!
