39th Annual Gala a huge success!
AAa/e members and guests revel in sold-out banquet
On Tuesday, October 4, the Biltmore Bowl was filled to the brim with the "who's who" of Southern California's AEC industry. Embodying the theme, "Designing a Better Tomorrow," agency leaders, owners, sponsors, elected officials, AAa/e members and scholarship recipients reveled with good cheer as we celebrated our 39th Annual Awards Banquet and VIP Reception. Elected officials in attendance included US Congresswoman Judy Chu, 27th Congressional District; US Congressman Mark Takano, 41st Congressional District, CA Assembly Member Ed Chau, 49th Assembly District; LA City Councilmember David Ryu, LA District #4; and LA Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell, LA District #13. Over the course of the evening, 650 members and guests relished the fantastic networking opportunities at this sold out gala.
A special thanks to Deborah Flint, CEO of LAWA, for delivering her inspiring keynote address, and to our Mistress of Ceremonies Alice Wong, who is a Government and Community Affairs Representative for the Upper San Gabriel Valley MWD and Miss Los Angeles Chinatown Queen 2015.
We congratulate Leadership Award recipient Mr. Vincent Yu, LA County DPW Architectural Unit Head; Visionary Award recipient, Mr. Phil Washington, CEO, Metro; and Community Award recipient, Mr. Garrett Lee, President, Jamison Properties; and our seven scholarship recipients, who received a total of $26,500!
This success of this banquet was only possible with the extraordinary leadership of Banquet Co-Chairs Kurt Yoshi and Young Nam, AAa/e President Joseph Fong, and the time and dedication of the Banquet Committee, VIP Committee, AAa/e Foundation, Board Members, all the volunteers, and our Association Manager Dianne Ochoa. We sincerely appreciate the generous support of Gold Sponsor Metro; Silver Sponsors Gensler and Glumac; and all of the Bronze, Community, and Half-Table Sponsors. We also want to thank our silent auction item donors and bidders who raised $7,500 for the 2017 Scholarship Fund. Thank you all for attending, and see you at next year's banquet!
