Lunch with Developers - 6/16
Hear about opportunities in Southern California's Golden Age of Development!

Mary Ann King of Moran & Company opined, "All of us living or working in this City in this decade are going to remember this as a Golden Age in terms of development."  Southern California is seeing some of the most exciting developments of all types - a growth we have not seen in nearly 20 years.  Will this trend continue?  What factors will contribute to this growth or decline?  How will proposed legislation affect growth?  What about Orange County?  Don't miss out on this opportunity to get the answers to these questions, firsthand from leading public and private developers: Dan Rosenfeld, Community Partners; Gerard McCallum, Wilson Meany; Jeff Anglada, Wincome; and Patrick D. Spillane, IDS Real Estate Group.  Gruen Associates Managing Partner, Michael Enomoto, is the moderator.

AEC entrepreneurs give advice
AAa/e members and guests gain sage advice and perspectives on "Advancing your Career"

On May 26th, emerging professionals and senior AEC leaders alike gathered at LA County Department of Public Works for our Spring 2016 Masters Series: Perspectives from AEC Entrepreneurs. Members and guest networked and heard discerning advice on career advancement and starting one's own business from: Rubina Chaudhary, President/Founder, MARRS Services; David Honda, President of DS Honda Construction; and Virgil Aoanan, CEO and Principal, VCA Engineers. Each of these role models shared the opportunities they encountered, decisions they made, actions they took, and challenges they overcame to ascend in their careers. Rubina's words of wisdom included being: 1 - open to opportunities; 2 - mindful of life stages; 3 - a teacher and learner; and 4 - grateful. David conveyed to our audience that critical to business-owner success is to engage a good lawyer, accountant, and banker who will "have your back." Virgil presented his triangle of business success which encompasses three critical apexes: 1 - Project/Business, 2 - Management, and 3 - BD/Networking. AAa/e Board Member Keith Kajiya. Vice President, AECOM, moderated this inspirational panel discussion. AAa/e greatly appreciates the panelists' valuable advice and taking the time to network with attendees during the reception. We would also like to thank LA County's Vince Yu for hosting our event for us at DPW. Stay tuned for our 2017 Masters Series!
