WE ARE BLACK HISTORY

A Special Shout to Coach Tommie for making this beautiful BHM tribute video highlighting our amazing community. We are thrilled to share this video and excited to announce that Coach Tommie is now recruiting students for our Black Student Union (BSU).

BHM SCHOOL WIDE FESTIVAL

We were excited to kick off Black History Month with our annual festival on February 1st, with a school-wide dress-down day! Our students had the chance to come out to the school gymnasium for festival fun. Our students enjoyed a jump slide, games, music, and delicious Soul Food from our local Soul Food Restaurant in our community, Cook it Mama Cafe. It was an excellent time for our students to enjoy themselves as we kicked off the celebrations this month.

Jesse White Tumblers Assembly

As we continue celebrating this month's celebrations, we had the privilege to host The Jesse White Tumblers for our students.

This annual assembly is always a favorite with our students. Their interactive show leaves an impression on our students, and we are proud to highlight this amazing group!

We are hoping to continue this partnership with our students and promote if any student is interested in joining the Jesse White Tumblers. Many of the tumblers are retiring and need more volunteers to join! you can click on the link below for more information:

Kindergarten BHM Wax Museum

Our Kindergarten team collaborated to facilitate a lesson on Historical Black Figures for a Black History Month Wax Museum Tribute. They put together a gallery for our student's families and school community to view on February 29th.

The Wax gallery was a great success; our kinder students made poster boards and dressed up as the Historical Person they chose. We appreciate the creativity of our teachers in hosting such an essential part of our History, and the Wax Museum Gallery made an impact on our students.

BHM Family Movie Night

A special shout out to our PTO for hosting our 2nd Annual BHM Family Movie Night. Our families all had the chance to come out and Disney Pixar's Soul. They also hosted a delicious concession stand full of yummy treats. Our PTO is finalizing the next Family event: FAMILY EASTER EGG Hunt on March 8th. We hope to see everyone at this next family event!

CYSP FAMILY SKATE NIGHT

We closed the month with our CYSP Family Skate Night on February 26th. All of our CYSP groups and their families were invited. We brought out more than 100 people to enjoy an out-of-town, physical, cultural experience and parent engagement activity for all of our groups to enjoy! Our groups had such a great time last year that we know we had to host this special skate night again!
