Closure on northbound Black Forest Road ending Monday, two weeks early

Northbound Black Forest Road reopens Monday, July 15 between Woodmen Road and Vollmer Road, two weeks earlier than planned. 

The closure was needed to remove existing pavement and subgrade, and rebuild and repave the roadway including curb, gutter and medians. The closure was planned to run six weeks, from mid-June through July, but crews made better progress than expected, letting them open the road two weeks early.   

The project team is grateful for the public’s patience during this important phase of construction.

The project is widening the roadway to two lanes in each direction between Woodmen Road and Research Parkway. Funded through the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA) “A” List of projects, work is scheduled to be complete in late 2024.
