Black Forest Road

Construction Update

May 20, 2024

One-lane operations on Black Forest Road May 23-24

Black Forest Road will be reduced to one lane with flaggers south of Research Parkway to the bridge over Cottonwood Creek Thursday and Friday, May 23-24, weather depending, to accommodate work in the roadway. Motorists should expect delays and seek alternate routes, if possible.

Additionally, northbound Black Forest Road will continue to have one northbound lane at Research through the end of the summer. A dedicated left turn lane will not be reestablished at this time due to construction needs for new stormwater infrastructure.

Stay Informed

The project is widening the roadway to two lanes in each direction between Woodmen Road and Research Parkway. Funded through the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA) “A” List of projects, work is scheduled to be complete in late 2024.
