Muslims in the US and around the world will be observing Ramadan, the Islamic lunar month of fasting, from

March 11th to April 9th

Many Muslims, especially LGBTQ Muslims, struggle to find their place within the Muslim community.

An older study shows, Muslim Americans have become more accepting of LGBTQ Muslims, according to a 2017 Pew Research Center study, but members of the community say there is still a lot of room for growth. As of 2020, 67 countries criminalize consensual same-sex sexual acts between adults, according to the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association’s (ILGA) report on state-sponsored homophobia. Many Muslim leaders and scholars condemn same-sex relationships and families and communities have been known to ostracize queer Muslims.

Volunteers Keep the Center Running Smoothly

Volunteers are Us!

The Billy DeFrank Center is 100% Volunteer-run. That means, when we are open, we run the front desk to greet people, direct them to the activities and groups, answer questions, answer the phone (usually people are looking for resources, and what's happening at the Center). We vacuum, clean, dust, and make the place feel fabulous.

To Volunteer visit the #BillyDeFrank Center Website: www.defrank.org

Volunteers are interviewed, sign policies/procedures & join the team.

Although we are open we are still staying in touch with the community via

Social Media, eNewsletters, phone.
