Sixty plus women gathered at the Petroleum Club on Saturday, April 23rd to celebrate and share a champagne toast launching the 13th Chapter of the The Transition Network.
Susan Collins, Executive Director and Jean Palmer, TTN Board member, traveled from New York and New Mexico to meet and congratulate members on their success. Attendees enjoyed music by

TTN Montana name badges were given to all attending members. Marti Miller read the toast...refreshments were enjoyed. Following the launch 40 members enjoyed a potluck at Affinity where good food, good conversations and new connections were relished.
Many thanks to the sponsors of the launch; without you this wonderful celebration would not be possible!

She is an inspiration.
She is dignity.
She is courage.
She is strength.
She can teach by her wisdom and lead by her grace.
She is a warrior.
She is a goddess.
She is everything in between.
She is laughter.
She is vibrant.
She always radiates life.
She is real.
She is tenderness.
She is hope.
She is a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a daughter,
an aunt, a sister, a best friend.

Women in Transition Workshop a success! |
|
|
Evelyn Noennig, Marti Miller, Evey LaMont & Jean Palmer |
The Transition Network "Women in Transition Workshop" comes to Billings!
April 22nd was the first Billings Women in Transition workshop. TTN board member Jean Palmer trained members Marti Miller, Evey LaMont and Evelyn Noennig to facilitate future classes. Fifteen ladies took advantage of the first class and enjoyed the afternoon exploring new possibilities, rethinking life and/or work, contemplating changes in lifestyle, this informative workshop provided a guiding framework to understand the process of transition, with structured conversations for personal reflection and interactive learning.
What sets this Workshop apart is the opportunity to explore your transition within a supportive community of women, and to make connections that can continue to enrich your life and sustain your journey over the next several years. Our goal is to offer this work shop twice a year.

Special Interest Groups Growing |
|
TTN Members are the heart and soul of our Special Interest Groups.
Evey LaMont is the current coordinator of the Billings TTN Special interest groups (SIGs): groups of women who share a special interest.
If you'd like to start a TTN Special Interest Group or become a member of one already started, begin the process by contacting Evey LaMont at
eveylamont@primetimetransition.com
or call: 245 3539.
We currently have 2 Book Clubs, 1 Wine Group (plus one forming), 1 hiking group, 1 lunch group, 1 coffee or tea group, 1 movie group and a travel group.
Here is what a few of our groups are doing:
The Cravings Book Club kicked off in November 2015 when the TTN leadership plunked us together in a meeting for our common interest in forming a book group. Feeling rather like cut twigs thrust directly into the soil without time to grow roots; we wondered how we could discuss books without knowing each other. How could we express our thoughts and emotions without first developing trust and intimacy?
In our first meeting we followed the path of least resistance, meeting in a public space, the Billings Public Library, and choosing books from the 100 plus book kits available. We learned that we were all indiscriminate lovers of a good story (thus the title Cravings Book Club), retired or still in transition, and about half of us were teachers. We jumped in with The Stone Diaries by Carol Shields.
Six books later, our roots have intertwined and we look forward to our meetings as an essential component of intellectual and emotional nourishment. We talked our way through three Western women writers, inhabited the imaginary life of an autistic young man living in our town for 600 Hours of Edward, and most recently marveled over the humanity and suffering of the beloved characters in Zusak's The Book Thief. Every month we celebrate our good fortune in coming together and building on the foundation provided by TTN and the Library. Kristin Neva, group lead
"AGBC" meets the 4th Thursday of the month at 5:30PM. We formed our group at the October TTN meeting but postponed our first meeting until January due to the holiday "rush" of other personal commitments! Our first two meetings were held at Bin 119. The Northern Hotel and The Fieldhouse were our meeting spots for the next two meetings. We will plan to be back at the Northern for May's meeting. We have a very dynamic group of women in our club---Barbara Burke, Evelyn Noennig, Judy Olson, Pat Pitsch, Barbara Prestrud, Deborah Richardson, Lois Smith and Cara Schaer. We have capped the membership to 8-8 fits nicely around a dinner table-- so we are currently closed. Since it was agreed that we wanted to be open to all types of books, we decided the name, Anything Goes Book Club, was most appropriate. Here's what we've read so far: "The Innocent", David Baldacci; "This House is Haunted", John Boyle, "The Nightingale", Kristin Hannah; "The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet", Jamie Ford; and our current read, "The Founding Mothers", Cokie Roberts. Each member will have the opportunity to make a recommendation for a book selection---it's worked out great and we each look forward to an evening of great conversation about the book paired with a light dinner, appetizers, , wine, coffee, whatever the appetite demands! We are a group of "happy readers"! Cara Schaer, group lead
Our TTN "Lunch Bunch" Special Interest Group formed in December, 2015, meeting for our first lunch on January 26, 2016. We now meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 11:30 am at different Billings area restaurants to explore and sample different menus. We are now 15 members strong, and have met at 4 restaurants since the beginning of the year, alternating restaurant locations from downtown to the west end of Billings. We love our time to get together, visit, learn, and share with each other. We have met at The Rex, Lemongrass Thai, Stacked Montana Grill, Tao New Asian, and our next lunch will be at the Burger Dive, home of the National Award Winning Black Sabbath Burger !!
