Helping define Livonia's Quality of Life

Drew Buatti withdraws candidacy for Livonia School Board

With a lot of soul searching and conversations with friends and family Drew Buatti has announced that he will not be a candidate for the Livonia Board of Education.

"I have a lot of support for the Livonia Public Schools and am a proud graduate of Stevenson High School, having served 4 years as President of my class. I joined the Livonia Rotary to continue my community service. I have decided to take the next two years and become more active in several civic-minded features that will expand my base of knowledge and experience.

"I appreciate all who have offered their support and I will always remember that you were there when I started. But at this time I want to expand my community involvement and leadership while preparing for perhaps a run for office in the future."

With the deadline on us there are five so far in the race for school board

Three incumbents team up with one challenger seeking 4 seats in the November election

One addition challenger gives us five running for the Livonia Board of Education

It is official! Pam Morgan will be on the ballot for the Livonia School Board election in November. She joins the three incumbents, Bradford, Acosta, Frank and one other challenger Dave McFarland.

In announcing her candidacy she says that "A vote for me is a vote for parent’s rights, transparency, back to basics and supporting educators."

Morgan ran in 2022 as a part of a slate that included Jeff Ferguson and Reina Vendramini. That election was won by Colleen Burton, Liz Jarvis, and Mark Johnson.

Budget Discussion with two members of the Livonia City Council continues the open discussion with residents on issues facing Livonia

Councilwoman Carrie Budzinski continues to share city information in a series of monthly coffees at the Livonia Library. Saturday she invited Council President Brandon McCullough for a discussion with approximately 30 interested residents on the budget process.

McCullough having been invited by Budzinski was able to make the Franklin High School Golf Outing, attend the Budget Discussion and then head to Notre Dame University to skate at a Pucks for Autism outing.

Two busy members of the Council. Thanks Carrie.

See you this Saturday at the Greenmead Big Picnic. The typewriter will be relaxing with the Livonia Historic Society at the Quaker Meeting House.

What motivates FridayMusings:

We can't only define Livonia as taking small steps toward maintaining the way things were. That will give us mediocre outcomes. Our goal needs to be innovative and transformative.
