Helping define Livonia's Quality of Life

20 years publishing FridayMusings without bias but not without opinion

Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others. . . .Jack Welch

Volunteers passed out over 4,500 Mattel Hot Wheels in 2023 while working

Touch a Truck with more than ever being offered for families

August 24

The Churchill High School Interact Club, in collaboration with the Livonia AM Rotary Club, is excited to present the 2024 Touch A Truck event. This interactive family event offers a unique chance for both children and adults to explore a variety of vehicles—ranging from public service and emergency to utility, construction, landscaping, transportation, delivery, and more—all conveniently located in one place.

Children will have the opportunity to sound horns and sirens, climb on construction equipment, and discover how these machines work, all in a hands-on environment. They are encouraged to interact with their favorite vehicles, take the driver's seat, and engage with the community members who build, protect, and serve.

Mindful of those sensitive to noise, Touch a Truck will provide a "quiet time" from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM. During this period, we will request that participants avoid using loud sounds such as horns and sirens.

And then you can follow up August with three creative hometown events in September set to welcome Fall into Livonia

Heat did not get in the way of Band Camp for

the Clarenceville Marching Band

Day 3 of Band Camp and the musicians got to hear some of the show music during rehearsal and cam to camp with some of the music already memorized. They ended the day with some fun at Zap Zone in Farmington Hills. Word has it they even rehearsed the National Anthem.

Parents helped out as the Band Boosters provided snacks and beverages for these talented musicians.

More community support continues to come in for the Bentley Marker Dedication.

Thank you Dan MacIver!

The Bentley High School Marker Dedication continues to influence the community positively as we welcome another supporter to the Marker Dedication Program. Jim McConnell, President of the Livonia Historical Society will continue in each issue of Musings to share the community's feelings about Bentley High School.

Today, he extends his gratitude to Dan MacIver, Financial & Portfolio Advisors, for his support of the Livonia Historical Society Marker Dedication Program, scheduled for September 15th at 2:00 PM, with the celebrations starting at 1:00 PM, the program beginning at 2:00 PM, at the former site of Bentley High School, presently the Kirksey Recreation Center.

Jim announces that there is still room for 2 more ads and if you are interested drop a dime.

No matter the age you can help fight pediatric cancer. Just ask Simon.

Matthew Kulacki's nephew came into town this week and wanted his aunt Felicia to chop his hair! "I'm so incredibly proud of this kid! First haircut in over 2 years and he wanted to donate it! Simon raised $798 dollars in the last few days! Thank you so much to everyone who donated to Metro Detroit St. Baldrick's Events."

Simon is super excited for his chance to help out kids in need, but also to try to win a PlayStation 5! For every 50 bucks anyone under the age of 18 raises this year, they get a raffle ticket into the PS5 Raffle on main event day, Sept 22nd!

"Here is his link for anyone who wants to push him past the $800 mark! Thank you all and thank you SIMON, YOU'RE A ROCKSTAR!"

Voters asked to amend Auditor selection process in charter

Voters are being asked to amend the Wayne County charter to allow any qualified audit firm to be awarded the contract for independent external auditor services when the County competitively bids audit services.

The current requirement that limits the services of an independent external auditor

to 8 years would be eliminated.

The County would be permitted to select the best

qualified audit firm.

Proposition A

Shall the Wayne County Charter Section 3.119 (e) be amended in part to allow the

What motivates FridayMusings:

We can't only define Livonia as taking small steps toward maintaining the way things were. That will give us mediocre outcomes. Our goal needs to be innovative and transformative.
