Tuesday marked the filing deadline for most positions, excluding educational roles such as school board and Schoolcraft College Trustee which has a deadline later in the Spring. Jolly picks up major Livonia endorsements for District Judge

Livonia City Councilman Jim Jolly has garnered police endorsements for the Livonia 16th District Court, which serves exclusively the City of Livonia.

He states, "It is with humility that I share the endorsement of my campaign for the 16th District Court Judge by the Livonia Police Officers Association and the Livonia Police Command Officers Association.

"This endorsement is meaningful as I have served with these committed and professional individuals for nearly two decades, observing their dedication daily. Their support is an immense honor."

Additionally, Jolly has received endorsements from the Wayne County Association of Police Chiefs, Bob Stevenson, the former Chief of Police in Livonia.

Jolly is set to compete against Robin Persiconi for the judgeship currently occupied by Judge Kathleen McCann, who is not eligible to run this year due to age restrictions.

John Larkin pictured here with his family, is a candidate for the Wayne County Circuit Court covering all of Wayne County, pledges to administer the law with fairness, justice, and reason, and to treat everyone with dignity and respect. He has garnered a series of local Livonia endorsements for his county-wide campaign:

Judge Timothy Kenny, Retired Chief Judge of the 3rd Circuit Court; Judge Don Knapp, 3rd Circuit Court, Judge Sean Kavanagh, 16th District Court, Judge Kathleen McCann, 16th District Court, Mayor Maureen Miller Brosnan, Paul Bernier, Livonia City Attorney.

The tradition continues at the 7th Annual

Good Old Fashioned Corn Roast

Annually, the Good Old Fashioned Neighborhood Corn Roast appoints an Honorary Chairperson. Previous honorees have included Brandon McCullough, Laura Toy, and Maureen Brosnan.

Bill Joyner, the founder of the Corn Roast, is delighted to announce City Councilwoman Carrie Budzinski as the Honorary Chair for the forthcoming 7th Annual Corn Roast on September 8th, set to occur at Bicentennial Park following the 3rd Annual Tour de Livonia.

The Tour de Livonia begins at 9:00 AM with two cycling routes: a roughly 19-mile ride and a shorter course tailored for young riders, families, and novice cyclists. Stay tuned as registration details will be available in Musings.

The Corn Roast commences at 11:30 AM with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Budzinski and the first ears of corn being passed out by local elected officials.

The event's preparation starts with the collection of freshly picked corn from Westborn Market.

At 8:30 AM, the Clarenceville High School basketball team will start shucking corn, enabling the Livonia Lions to prepare it for serving by 11:30 AM.

Groups are already starting to sign up to host informational booths for the nearly 2,000 expected attendees, including the Livonia Community Foundation, Livonia Symphony Orchestra, Rosedale Presbyterian Church, Seedlings, Livonia Democratic Club, Friens of Livonia Arts, Kiwanis Early Risers and the Livonia Historical Society.

Last year, 34 organizations participated, offering insights into their contributions toward enhancing our quality of life.

Clements Circle Civic Association

did their part for Earth Day

This year, for Earth Day, the theme was Planet vs. Plastics. The 2000s began with a strong theme of "reduce, reuse, recycle," yet there is constant litter everywhere.

Steve Alexander and Adam Penzenstadler led the Clements Circle Civic Association with KJ, Elisha, Michelle, Angie, and Heather in their recent Clements Circle Adopt a Highway Cleanup Event!

They filled 7 bags of garbage to make their section of Plymouth Road look a little nicer. Alexander says that "It was a beautiful day out there, and we did a small part to help make our little planet a bit cleaner. Happy Earth Day!"

Take Pride in Livonia Day May 4th

Do you Take Pride in Livonia and want to help keep it looking great?

If you do you can join friends and neighbors for this annual spring cleanup event at city parks from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, May 4.

The cleanup will be followed by a picnic lunch from 11 a.m. to noon. Locations TBD based on the number of participants who volunteer.

This is a great opportunity to obtain service hours for your organization, engage with others in the community, explore new park locations, and Take Pride in Livonia!

Livonia Democratic Club's new community project

Girl Products. Period.

Every day in Livonia, countless women and girls are unable to afford the menstrual products they need. This issue is particularly challenging for schoolgirls who may miss school when they lack these essential supplies at home.

The Livonia Democratic Club is committed to eliminating Period Poverty in Livonia through our "Girl Products, Period" program. To achieve this, we need your support. We've dedicated the month of May to this initiative, and here's how you can contribute.

How can you help? You can purchase any menstrual products and donate them by placing them in our collection box at the Livonia Senior Center. If you prefer to donate money, we can shop on your behalf. Please contact Mitsy Morris at 248-420-6653 to arrange for a pick-up.

You can order supplies directly from Amazon by going to their Gift List section and searching LDC Girl Products. Orders will be shipped to Mitsy Morris.

Your assistance can significantly impact the fight against Period Poverty in Livonia. The Livonia Dems and all of Livonia appreciates any support you can provide to help us make a difference.

Friends of the Library continues to support

our public library in so many ways

The Friends of the Livonia Library will have their used book sale May 17-19, offering a wide variety of books for all ages.

Members of the Friends of the Livonia Library and teachers with I.D. can shop the pre-sale, May 16 from 4:30-6:30 pm.
