What will a day at Pura Vida Peace Camp look like?
Camp at La Paz will be like a mini-United Nations Experience

Educators from the La Paz School will be guiding students in their acclaimed peace practices and providing transformative experiences rooted in all of the themes that make Costa Rica the magical place people have come to love; cross-cultural exploration, taking care of the planet & sustainability, ecosystems, beaches & the tropical rainforest, and so much more! Camp includes all instruction and activities, two snacks and a hot lunch daily, and a weekly field trip. La Paz is a fully appointed school campus serving preschool, elementary, middle and high school students during the school year. Students at camp will consist of a mix of kids from the US and students from the local area. The La Paz student population is made up of 60% students coming from international origins and 40% coming from local Costa Rican origins. The campus is equipped with play spaces, an art studio, swimming pool, soccer field, chickens, vegetable gardens and more. Local field trips include a visit to a working farm an
d the Green Leatherback Turtle Reserve. There are also a plethora of adventure activities like zip-lining, hiking, surfing and exploring the local beach towns to enjoy after camp hours.

Do we have to sign up
for both weeks?
Nope! You can sign up a week at a time.
We know that windows for family vacations can be more narrow than we all would wish, so families are welcome to sign up for one week or two, whatever works for you!
Does this mean parents spend their days KID FREE?
Yup! That means from 9AM-3PM parents are kid free and can do whatever they please!
We are offering adults the option of taking Spanish lessons in the morning at a local adult languague school, CPI Language Institute located a short 10 minute drive from La Paz, or you can simply enjoy a quiet day by the pool and have a total vacation!
What do you have planned for families after camp?
Spend your days kid-free, then we rock out as a family on afternoons and weekends!
Families are encouraged to make the best of their time in Guanacaste and explore with their kiddos in the afternoons and over the weekend. There are so many beautiful things within driving distance of La Paz, half day trips only 1-2 hours away, and even locally between Flamingo Beach and Tamarindo. You can enjoy peaceful unplanned afternoons laying in a hammoc, or pop out an explore. We will be planning some optional actitivites and excursions for the group during the afternoons, like surf lessons, horseback riding etc. We are also planning a weekend day trip to a local volcano to hike, zip line, and visit the "aguas thermales" or volcanic thermal baths. The possibilities are many, but ultimately how you spend your free time is up to you.
What do accomodations look like?
Stay where you like! We can accomodate you or you can DIY.
Pura Vida Peace Camp offers families the utmost flexibility in travel planning. You can opt to stay at one of two Bed & Breakfasts where we have arranged a group rate (note! this also includes transfer from Liberia airport, daily breakfast, daily camp bus pick up for your children, a welcome dinner, and a Parents Night Out facilitated by Family Go Global Staff)--basically an all-in package deal that only leaves a few meals at your expense. OR you can do it a-la-carte, pay for camp, book your own Air BnB or hotel and just drop kids off at camp daily. Whatever works for your family.
