We Are Excited to Announce....
The Board of Directors of the New Rochelle Public Library (NRPL) is pleased to announce that it has hired Eugenia Schatoff as NRPL’s new Library Director, effective October 1, 2024. The appointment was made following a four-month nationwide search. Ms. Schatoff succeeds Tom Geoffino, who retired in April.
As Director, Ms. Schatoff will oversee the continued revitalization of the library, with a renewed emphasis on ensuring the library is a best-in-class facility, expanding programming and services to meet the needs of the diverse and growing New Rochelle community, and strengthening community partnerships.

Book Donations Paused
The Friends is not accepting book/CD/DVD donations until after Labor Day (9/3/24). Our all-volunteer Friends group, who sorts, shelves and sells these generously donated items, needs time to manage the large inflow of materials. Please respect their wishes.
As a reminder, when donations resume, please limit to one small bag or box. Thank you.

Knit One. Purl Two
The final summer NRPL Knitting Club session takes place on Friday, August 23, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. The knitting club will take a break for the month of September, but will return on Friday, October 11.

Qi Gong Returns in September
Jian will return on Tuesdays, 10:00 - 11:00 am, beginning September 3, to continue leading our popular Qi Gong series - energy (chee) and gentle body movement (gong) for healing the body, mind and emotions. Drop in.

ESL Fall Classes
Learn English as a second language at the New Rochelle Public Library. In person beginner classes meet Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri, 9:15 am - 12:15 pm, beginning in mid- September. An online placement test will be given on Wednesday, September 5. Learn more here.

Beginner Sewing for Adults
This beginner sewing program on Saturdays, September 7, 14, and 21 at 10:00 am - 12:00 pm OR 2:00 - 4:00 pm will teach adults how to thread, operate, and troubleshoot a sewing machine while making several small projects including a personal pin cushion; a simple tote bag and more.
All materials and supplies are provided. No prior sewing experience required. Space is limited. Registration required.
This program is only open to New Rochelle Public Library (NRPL) cardholders in good standing, who have not previously taken this class. A valid NRPL card is required to register. Participants MUST attend all 3 sessions. Please do not register if you cannot attend all sessions.

Tween Book Club
Does your tween love to read? Our next tween book club discussion takes place on Tuesday, September 10, 4:30 - 5:30 pm. Tweens ages 9 - 12 are invited to join for snacks, trivia, and to chat about Max in the House of Spies: A Tale o World War ll by Adam Gidwitz. The first 10 registrants receive a free copy of the book. Registration details here.
Save the date! The next Tween Club is Tuesday, September 17, 4:30 pm. Hang out with old friends and new to chat, play board games, color or experiment with STEM projects.

NR Camps Show: Celebrating French Culture and Lafayette Day

Summer Hours and Closings
Summer Saturday hours are in effect through August 31. The Main Library will be open on Saturdays, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, and the Huguenot Children's Library will be closed on Saturdays. Regular Saturday hours will resume on September 7.
The Library is closed Sundays through September 1.
The Library will be closed on Monday, September 2 in observance of Labor Day.
