Thank you for participating in this year's So Cool So Just organization fair. We were thrilled to see students looking for opportunities to get involved in social justice. If you are interested in joining future SCSJ tabling events as a representative of your organization, email cascminor@umich.edu
As the midterm election season approaches, we want to encourage your participation in the Big Ten Voting Challenge. The voting challenge aims to increase the number of student voters across the country, and encourage participation at polls for election.The imitative is a nonpartisan call for voter registration and turnout on college campuses, and acknowledges the importance of student voice in this democratic process.

In addition to the pledge, the School of Social Work staff, faculty, and students have coordinated a number of activities to encourage voter turnout among students. If you are interested in volunteering for any of the designated events, please sign up on the SSW Volunteer spreadsheet, and contact Gabriela Romero - Santiago (gsantiro@umich.edu) for information on how to get trained.

CASC-MSW Preferred Admissions Program
Students pursuing a Community Action and Social Change (CASC) minor may apply to the Office of Student Services (OSS)
in the School of Social Work for the Preferred Admission Program leading to a Master of Social Work (MSW) as early as their junior year.

Latinx Heritage Month 2018
Nationally, September 15 to October 15 is the month to recognize history, culture and contributions of people from Central and Latin America in the U.S. The Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs (MESA) has partner with various student organizations and academic departments to carry out month-wide social and educational programming celebrating Latinx heritage. Prison Birth Project
The Prison Birth Project is a student organization that is partnered with the non-profit Michigan Prison Doula Initiative (MPDI). The goal of MPDI is to provide comprehensive education and professional doula services to incarcerated women during their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum process.

Homefront Strong Child Team Volunteer
Are you interested in volunteering with children? The Homefront Strong Program is looking for for individuals
to work one-on-one and in small groups with children from military families. The groups help children build resiliency through developmentally appropriate activities that are fun and engaging. This is a great opportunity to gain experience working with children in a group format, military families, and the principles to foster resilience. If interested contact berkleyl@med.umich.edu.
Medicaid Outreach and Enrollment
The Washtenaw Health Initiative (WHI) is looking for volunteers to help with ACA Marketplace and Medicaid outreach to help uninsured members of our community get insurance. 2018 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Summit Week
Following the launch of the five year DEI Strategic Plan, the University began hosting the DEI Summit each year as an opportunity to provide both updated information and transparency in this process. The summit

CEW+ Advocacy: Catalysts for Change
U-M CEW+ is excited to host international and award-winning Burmese activist, Wai Wai Nu. Ms. Nu's lecture will be the culmination of an evening focused on highlighting the applied research of U-M faculty and students engaged in diverse scholarship. Wai Wai Nu was a political prisoner for seven years under the Burmese military government and emerged to serve as a national - and international - voice for Burma's human rights and democracy movement.

Telling Our Own Stories: Visual Storytelling Workshop on Disability Life at U-M

Hacking the Vote
In June 2017, Michigan Engineering Professor J. Alex Halderman testified before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence about the vulnerability of the country's voting systems, having studied and tested such systems for more than a decade.
In this panel discussion, Halderman and LSA Professor Walter Mebane, an expert on detecting electoral fraud, address election security.Register.

Luce Scholars Program 2019-2020
The Luce Scholars Program
is a nationally competitive fellowship program that provides stipends, language training, and individualized professional placement in Asia each year. Applications should be from seniors, graduate students, and young leaders in a variety of fields (other than Asian studies) who have had limited experience of Asia.

Boren Fellowship
Boren Fellowship are awarded to graduate students for the purpose of overseas language study, academic study, research (either Master's or Ph.D. level), an academic internship, or any combination of the above.
