Berryessa Art Festival This Saturday!

It's finally here! The 46th Annual Berryessa Art Festival is happening at Penitencia Creek Park, this Saturday, May 13th from 10am to 4pm. The meadow behind the Berryessa Community Center will be transformed into an open air market featuring crafts from local artisans and vendors, beer and wine, entertainment, and fun for the whole family!

An exciting array of vendors and artists will come together at the Berryessa Art Festival! With Mother's Day just the day after, it's your chance to find mom a one-of-a-kind gift all while supporting local makers, and the Berryessa School District.

Bringing Jobs to North San José!

I’m excited to welcome STACK Infrasture to District 4 with their expanded operation in North San José. At this week's City Council meeting we approved STACK’s Trade Zone Park Project that includes a large Data Center with the conditions that STACK commit to increased environmental stewardship at their facility. I worked alongside STACK to find ways to mitigate the environmental impacts of their operations.

The City and STACK will be working together to explore green stormwater infrastructure, which filters rainwater to reduce pollutants, as part of the bike lane upgrade along Trade Zone Blvd. On top of paying the required fees up front to plant more trees, STACK will also make a $40,000 donation to our One Thousand Tree Project fund to plant even more trees in our district. Finally, after STACK’s parking garage is built, they will explore ways to convert the top floor to be a combination of solar panels and vegetation.

As a green infrastructure and tree planting advocate, I am thrilled to see companies make an active effort to reduce their carbon footprint when they build in our district. STACK leads by example with their environmental consciousness and will be a great new neighbor for everyone.

See the memorandum I wrote with Mayor Mahan for more information.

435 Trees Planted in District 4 So Far!

May 18 is Bike To Work Day!

May is Bike Month, and specifically May 18th is Bike to Work/Wherever Day.

Riding your bike to work or school is a great way to get to know your city a little better. Hearing, seeing and smelling things you'd normally miss as you speed by in a car. Plan a good, safe route, grab a bike and helmet and get pedaling!

Who's making a big difference in our community? A great teacher, business owner, a police officer who goes beyond the call of duty. Maybe there's someone spending their free time organizing creek clean-ups or blanket drives for the unhoused... If you've got someone special in your neighborhood, let us know by nominating them to be a District Hero!
