Berks Park 78: PetSmart Project Underway!

Ludgate Engineering was contracted by Seefried Properties to continue land development services for their client, the new owner of Lot 1, PetSmart.  PetSmart is currently constructing an 870,000 sq. ft. distribution center located along Rte I-78 and Rte 501 in Bethel Township, Berks County.  When completed this new facility  will provide roughly 500 jobs in Berks and surrounding counties.  The project will also add sidewalks to connect with the rest of the park and dog walking areas as an extra benefit for employees.

We have prepared preliminary and final land development plans, conducted survey work, environmental & stormwater design, site grading, and utility locations.  We continue to work on shop drawing reviews, escrow releases and construction inspections.  This project is on schedule partly because the client holds weekly conference calls with all project professionals in an effort to keep the project running smoothly.  The project is anticipated to be completed with the possibility of a grand opening by beginning of 2014.

Employees Enjoy a Day at the Ballpark

Most businesses would agree that time is money however, some time away from the office has its benefits.  Ludgate Employees are a close group and enjoy friendships even outside of work.  These relationships are encouraged by Thom and Bob Ludgate, who feel that some "down time" increases the productivity of the overall office.

"Getting to know our co-workers on a different level allows us to work well as a team.   We begin to learn the strengths and weaknesses of our team members and each work to support one another both professionally and personally", said Jackie Hollenbach.

Thom Ludgate treated the Ludgate employees, their spouse, and children to day at the Reading Fightin Phils ballpark.  "The day at the ballgame was a great day - weather, food, coworkers, and the topper was the Fightin Phils won", said Judy Fisher. (photos-click here)

We are looking forward to making this a yearly tradition here at Ludgate.
