Judge Thelton E. Henderson at the Civil Rights Division’s 65th Anniversary

On December 6, 2022, Judge Thelton E. Henderson '62 provided pre-recorded remarks for the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights division’s celebration of its 65th anniversary. The celebration focused on the work of the Division over its 65-year history and featured former Assistant Attorneys General for Civil Rights, current staff, and alumni of the Civil Rights Division. Judge Henderson spoke about his experiences as the first Black attorney in the Division in the early 1960s. Watch the video>>

Mourning a Major Loss

Lauren Edelman ’86, a beloved Berkeley Law professor since 1996, passed away Feb. 7. She won numerous awards for her seminal scholarship on employment law issues and held vital positions at the school, including as director of our Center for the Study of Law & Society and associate dean of our Jurisprudence and Social Policy Program. Elected last year to the prestigious American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Edelman also served in many key roles at the Law & Society Association, including as president.
