This week we partnered with the national Blue Ribbons for Israel campaign, a global unity project standing in solidarity with hostages and their families, an initiative by the Jewish Federations of North America. We also hosted an evening of learning and tefillah in partnership with NCSY and UOS geared towards students and their parents, and were proud to join UOS and Congregation Beth Yeshurun for an evening of partnered torah learning and tehillim, geared towards the community. We are blown away by all the initiatives our students, alumni, and parent community are organizing to show support for those protecting and defending our homeland. Tizku L'Mitzvot!

Congratulations to Development and Marketing Director Tania Levenstein, who will be participating in YOULead, a nine-month leadership development program with Prizmah: Center for Jewish Day Schools. YOULead addresses the growing needs in the Jewish day school field, and invests in leaders in order to strengthen their leadership capacity and supports them in serving their schools and communities. Charting Fun
Mrs. Rosenzweig's 7th grade math class had a great time honing their graphing skills this week through an engaging coordinate graph mystery picture activity.

Nurturing Fine Motor Skills
Children in Morah Tzippe's kindergarten Judaic Studies class practiced fine motor skills by making a rainbow parsha project. They cut and then gripped tiny pieces of paper and glued it in the correct order of colors of the rainbow!

|
Analytical Prowess
This week Mr. Cell's 9-10th grade AP US History students practiced writing the AP long essay, and its use of the AP rubrics. They used their knowledge of early American history to craft interpretive arguments.

Building Teivahs
This week each child in Morah Tsippi's EC2B class got to build a Teivah (ark) just like Noach did in the Parsha! On the outside of the boat they glued on wooden popsicle sticks. The inside got decorated with people on top, animals in middle, and garbage on the bottom.

Literary Exploration
Middle schoolers in Ms. Ruben's ELA class are learning and reviewing literary terms. This knowledge enhances reading comprehension, improves writing skills and provides a framework for literary analysis.

Nurturing Growth
Our garden is growing as quickly as our students! With 8 beds filled, the students in lower school are beginning to learn the basics of gardening and connecting the activities to Torah. The students have "tilled" the soil and are now working on "tending" it as they learn about the importance of soil composition and its importance to fostering growth, just as creating an appreciation for Torah helps us be the best we can.

Israel's Splendor
This week Rabbi Ouzzanās 6th Grade Mishna class worked in groups on a project discussing the beauty of Israel that will be presented jointly to the school. The covered topics such as the IDF, Israeli contributions to the world, famous Israeli landmarks, and Israeli geography.

Fall Fun
Morah Avivaās EC4A class enjoyed the beautiful fall weather this week! The children spent time under the covered courts drawing with colored sidewalk chalk and riding bikes under the sukkah. Morah Aviva also taught her students the second story in the Torah, Parshat Noach. Everyone was a builder and helped make a cooperative Teivah mural. Some friends worked together in the Blocks Center to build Teivahs with legos and blocks. They demonstrated great teamwork! After, they had an opportunity to make their own individual Teivah collages. This project included using scissors for the first time this year. Additionally, the class moved on with letter Dalet in their Alef Bet curriculum, as well as letter D in their alphabet . The class also enjoyed another fabulous Letter D Share and Tell.

Heartfelt Gratitude

Middle school students in Mr. Duke's classes wrote letters of gratitude to Israeli soldiers and first responders who are currently defending the Jewish homeland. The letters were requested by Beren graduate, Ruthie Palla, who is working with other volunteers to deliver the letters to the brave men and women who are fighting for peace and security in Israel.

The Wonders of Volcanoes
This week 4th grade students in Ms. Morrison's science class learned about volcanoes. They explored the various parts of a volcano and how it works. The students thought it was amazing how the Earth is always growing and changing. Afterwards they built models of volcanoes. The students really enjoyed being able to build their own volcano. On Friday they will mix baking soda and vinegar to see an example of how they erupt.

Riddle Worksheets
This week, Mrs. Rosenzweig's 6th-grade math class honed their decimal number skills with engaging riddle worksheets, keeping them actively immersed in their learning.

The Magic of Fall
This week, Morah Clara's EC3B class, students had a delightful tike discovering the arrival of Fall. The class discussed weather changes and the beautiful transformation of tree leaves into vibrant hues of yellow, red, and orange. To fully experience the season, the class ventured to RMBA's Magical Forest, where they relished activities in the Tepee Village and hopped between wooden tree trunks.

Exploring Meteorology
Mr. Simon's third grade class embarked on an educational journey to the Magical Forest to delve into the fascinating world of meteorology! They explored various aspects of weather, including temperature, wind patterns, humidity, cloud coverage, and more!

Teivahs and Songs
This week in Morah Sandy's EC3A class, students explored the story of Noach in this week's parsha. They discovered how Noach, the tzadik, was chosen to build a Teivah to protect his family from, the mabul (flood). In a fun activity, they crafted their own arks from popsicle sticks and learned new songs about the parsha, enhancing their understanding.

Hands-On Learning
This week, Kindergarten students in Ms. Rioja's class engaged in hands-on activities to learn about observation, measurement, comparison, and sorting. These activities not only enhanced their understanding but promoted teamwork.

Equation Mastery
This week, Mrs. Rosenzweig's 8th grade math class delved into the world of solving equations with grouping symbols. It was a collaborative experience as students took the lead, guiding their peers, through step-by-step problem solving.

Everyone tremendously enjoyed the return of the Rosh Chodesh Sunshine Cart filled with delicious treats, and really appreciated the thoughtful handwritten notes and chocolates. Middle school students in Morah Efrat's Hebrew class collaborated on crafting words of empowerment and support, paired with visual expressions of strength. These heartfelt creations are being forwarded to children in Israel to uplift them during these challenging times.

Middle School Volleyball
The MS girls volleyball team will play away their last match of the season Thursday at British International at 5:00.

All basketball team tryouts and practices are posted here. MS and HS boys will be on October 23 and MS girls will be on October 24. Game schedules are being finalized and will be handed out at tryouts.

Tikvah Bands
ļ»æIn an effort to raise funds for Israel, 3 RMBA parents have banded together to create a fundraiser called Tikvah Bands. Tikvah Bands are blue bracelets that can be worn to show our solidarity with Israel. 100% of the profits will equally support three organizations Jewish Federation of Greater Houston, FIDF, and Magen David Adom.
