Every week a student from each one of Mrs. Gelman's 7th–12th grade classes writes an original haiku about the parsha and a Dvar Torah about the Haftorah.
This week's H & H covering Parshat Perkudei features Avidan Abramson (11), Daniel Alon (9), and Maya Diner (8). Click here for some parsha inspiration you can share at your Shabbat table.

From the Desk of the STEAM Lab
This week in STEAAM we learned about how things move and about all the different modes of transportation. We had so much fun classifying vehicles for travel in the sky, over and under the water, and on land. We made models of airplanes, buses, and boats. We continued working on our patterns, and we coded Botley, one of our class robots, through mazes under the sea and in the city!

Ukrainian Crisis Continued
Students in both Mr. Cell's US History (9th–10th) and Economics (11th–12th) classes continued to follow the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The precipitous fall of the ruble against the dollar was examined in light of what the economist John Maynard Keynes analyzed to be the effect on society of an effective loss of its currency. The SWIFT banking system was examined, including both the power and limitations of its sanctions. Yad Vashem's position on Putin's claim of Russian de-Nazification of Ukraine was viewed in light of the history of anti-Semitism and the Shoah in that region, and the uses and abuses of that history.

Crocodiles in the Water
This week in Ms. Morrison's PE class students continued to learn skills for soccer. They practiced dribbling the ball and keeping it close to you. They also learned a fun new game called crocodiles in the water. The students had to dribble their ball without using their hands or bumping another ball. If they did, the crocodiles could take their spot. This game taught the students how to have control of their ball. It also helped them practice personal space. Great job everyone.
