Representative Hoyle tours Benton County to assess allocation of federal funds

On Apr. 4, Oregon’s 4th Congressional District Representative, Val Hoyle, visited the Benton County Commissioners, health staff, and Sheriff, to celebrate federal funding totaling almost $2 million for two important projects that are a part of the $14.6 million Hoyle helped secure for her district.

Hoyle first toured the Monroe Health Center, an important healthcare resource in rural Benton County. With federal funding secured through Hoyle’s efforts, the out-of-date rural health center will receive an upgrade to deliver essential services in a more modern and efficient setting. Lacey Mollel, the Center’s Director, expressed gratitude for the support and funding, recognizing its potential to enhance patient care.

Benton County Children & Family Mental Health Program Relocates 

This month, the Children and Family Mental Health Program will relocate from their current leased space at 1318 NW 9th Street to a new building on 4185 SW Research Way in Corvallis.

The new Research Way building offers more space and will enable the team to better meet the needs of the youth and families they serve. This move will bring the program right next to the Sunset Building, offering increased collaboration between two of the program’s County partners, the Developmental Diversity Program and the Juvenile Department. The program will also be closely located to the Kalapuya Building and the local Oregon Department of Human Services offices. 

The timeline of events for the relocation is as follows: 

• April 15 – Last day of services at 1318 NW 9th Street, Corvallis 
• April 16-23 – All appointments scheduled during this time will be held virtually via telehealth or out in the community while the team works to pack up and move into the new facility. No office visits are available during this time. Individuals needing assistance should call 541-766-6767. 
• April 24 – Services begin at 4185 SW Research Way, Corvallis

Sheriff’s Office hosts Drug Take Back Event

Don't forget! The Benton County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a Drug Take Back Event on Saturday, April 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This event allows members of the public to safely dispose of expired or unused medications.

This is a one-day, drive-thru event at 4500 SW Research Way, Corvallis. Those interested in dropping off at this location are asked to enter the parking lot off Research Way and follow the signs and directions of the volunteers.

Benton County announces Alsea Safe Routes to School crossings project

Public Works is pleased to announce funding has been secured with the support of the Oregon Department of Transportation for the Alsea Safe Routes to School Crossings project and is asking for feedback from the community.

The project will focus on implementing intersection safety enhancements along Alsea Highway at Second Street and Third Street. Public Works is currently in the design phase of the project, with construction anticipated to commence this Summer.

CERT featured in MOM Magazine

The Benton County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is proud to be in the April/May Issue of MOM Magazine (pg. 29), highlighting the importance and value of family disaster planning.

The more we learn about preparedness, the more resilient our communities will if a disaster should happen. These are important conversations to have with family and friends, and CERT is a great start. The volunteer program is sponsored by the Benton County Sheriff's Office and works within the division of Emergency Management.

We extend a special THANK YOU to our volunteers! A lot of effort and commitment goes into bringing CERT and preparedness education to our whole community. Each one of our volunteers has a heart of service and desire to empower others. They bring lived experience and skillsets that demonstrate and build resilience in others.
