Paul, the Office Cat, introduces new hire
Wendy Sinicki joins Bellwether staff
Paul, the office cat, here with a Bellwether update. My job at Bellwether Harbor is to keep track of the goings on. I’ve had my work cut out for me with the new hire.
Wendy Sinicki is the new Development Director at Bellwether. An important position becuase she raises the money for my care and feeding and other expenses we have. So far she has been pretty attentive to my requests for a little scratching behind my ears or under my chin.
Although I’m not very happy that she has been very busy jumping into promotions for #GivingTuesday and the Holiday Open House, things have settled down and I’m pleased to report she is a little more available to my need for attention.
She does seem to know what she is doing. I understand she has loads of experience and has been around the Fremont and Newaygo County area for about 25 years. Prior to working at Bellwether, she promoted Newaygo County at the Welcome Center and arranged for volunteers there.
I heard her tell someone on the telephone the other day: “I love working at Bellwether. The staff has been such a wonderful help. I’ve been so impressed with the care and concern for all the dogs and cats that each person has shown. Who wouldn’t like a job where your first duty when you arrive each morning is to provide some loving attention to the office cat.” I believe she was talking about me in the last bit.
I do know she loves to talk about the great things Bellwether does for its residents. Feel free to give her a call at 231-924-9230 or email her at wendy@bellwetherharbor.org. Or better yet, stop by Bellwether Harbor and see what is going on.

Keep your pets safe!
With the holidays, please remember that decorating can add hazards for your pets. Here are some things to remember to keep your pet safe and healthy from the American Veterinary Medical Association:
  • Poinsettias, mistletoe, cedar and other live holiday plants can be toxic if eaten.
  • Always secure your Christmas tree to a wall to avoid any hazards if a curious pet wants a closer look or wants to climb.
  • If burning candles, make sure they are located where a curious pet can't take a closer look and never leave a candle unattended.
  • Never add anything to the water of a live Christmas tree. This could be toxic it your pet is thirsty.
  • Chocolate is toxic to most pets so make sure it is out of reach.

We cannot thank you enough for all the support we received on #GivingTuesday, Nov. 28. We raised $2,600 and are waiting to be notified about matching monies.

P.S. Paul adds his thanks as well!
