Live, Learn, Work, and Play
In 2016, YVSC is really upping our efforts and promoting Energy as an important climate and economic development strategy for our community. YVSC is addressing renewable energy and conservation in the places we live, learn, work and play. We're also proud to provide access to energy saving measures to all residents-regardless of income. Since 40% of greenhouse gas emissions can be attributed to the built environment, this holistic approach will significantly reduce our community's impact on the climate. Read on for more about Energy workshops, trainings and youth education.
Stay Warm,

ReTree Steamboat - Road Trip!
As part of a mini-grant from the EPA, YVSC and teachers from the High School are developing curriculum to connect science and business classes to ReTree Steamboat and planting trees in our community. On Monday, February 9, Sarah Jones, from YVSC, Kipp Rillos, the business teacher at Steamboat Springs High School, and five of his students got a tour of the Colorado State Forest Service tree nursery. During the field trip, the students learned about the business of running a tree nursery and careers in forestry and natural resources. They also visited the CSU campus and the brand-new, state-of-the-art greenhouses in the School of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture.
