First Year Seminar

First Year Seminar (FYS) 101 is a 15-week, 1-credit course at Syracuse University that helps first-year and transfer students transition to campus life, explore identities, and foster an inclusive community. Topics include belonging, wellness, and social issues. Each section has up to 19 students and is led by experienced Lead Instructor and a Peer Leader.

Intercultural Collective

Located in the Schine Student Center and hosts the co-location of Multicultural Affairs, the Disability Cultural Center and LGBTQ Resource Center. This hub is fully accessible, honors the intersectionality of identity, in addition to hosting coalition building and collaboration. 'Cuse Athletics App

Orange Fans! Be sure to download the ’Cuse Athletics app to participate in our in-venue light show during the Dome Sweet Dome event and across athletic events through the year! The 'Cuse Light show brings a new energy level to game day through synchronized smartphone light shows and fan engagement, powered by a partnership with CUE Audio. Utilizing the light show at home events, in-game elements such as the team entrance, starting lineups and important moments in game will be experienced in new and exciting ways. Having the ’Cuse Athletics app also allows you to follow news, rosters, schedules and exclusive content for all 20 Orange teams right at your fingertips.


The free 'Cuse Athletics mobile app is available in the Apple App Store and Google Play (search Syracuse Orange).

Involvement Fairs

Meeting representatives from clubs and organizations on campus is a great way to get connected and involved during your first few weeks on campus! Some involvement fairs designed for new students include the following.

  • Welcome Week Fête: Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, 8-10 p.m.
  • Orange Blast: Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, 8-10 p.m.
  • Campuswide Involvement Fair: Sept. 9-11, 2024, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. (More details to be shared from Student Engagement at the beginning of the fall semester.)
