Packing for Camp - Helpful Hints

Packing for camp is exciting, and we want to make this as smooth as possible for campers and parents. This blog may offer helpful tips and information as you begin the camp preparations. In addition, here is some more information on special events at camp that campers like to prepare for ahead of time:

  • Maccabiah - Campers love to show their team spirit! Consider packing fun socks, a hair accessory, hat, or shirt/tank top in your team’s color.
  • Shabbat - Typically, campers clean up and dress a bit nicer on Friday nights at camp. Sundresses, khaki shorts, sandals, etc.
  • White Shabbat - We encourage campers to wear something white, typically a white shirt, on the first Shabbat of each session.
  • Israel Day/Carnivals - Anything casual blue and/or white to support the love of Israel is awesome for a fun all-camp program day! (We provide temporary tattoos and stickers!)
  • Campers will need a mess kit and sleeping bag for their overnight camping trips. Rookie campers who do not have the option to extend will not need a mess kit and sleeping bag.

Nervcited?

To help you prepare for a successful and magical first summer away at camp, our Director of Programming, Stacy, has written a book to help families start conversations at home and better understand the feelings that come with going away to camp. Nervcited is sure to answer some of your camper’s questions and enhance their excitement about the first time going away to summer camp.

Did you know that before Stacy worked at Beber in a full-time capacity, she was a classroom teacher? Stacy spent twenty years in the elementary school setting and has always loved children’s literature. Creating a book for kids that also incorporated overnight camp was the perfect way for her to combine two passions! If interested, check out Amazon for more information and to order a copy of Nervcited.

Beber Loves Colorado!

Did you know that the Denver/Boulder area is the second largest area that our campers travel from each session? We loved seeing so many campers and families during our Colorado hometown visit this month! Thank you to all who came to join us. These events were a great way for new and returning families to meet and mingle, ask questions, and get ready for the amazing summer ahead!

Health Center Reminders

  • Please talk with your children about becoming advocates for themselves when it comes to medication and medical care. If something doesn’t seem right when getting medication from the Health Center, please instruct your children to speak up and let us know what they think is wrong so that we can double check their medication or any treatment we are giving them. It’s an important skill for them to develop now and we want to make sure there are no mistakes. While we have excellent doctors and nurses, it’s important for everyone to question if something doesn’t seem right or isn’t what they are used to doing or getting in their medical care.
  • If your child is taking any “as needed,” medication or supplement, be sure you have reached out to Trudy@bebercamp.com to get approval and instructions for sending them to camp.
  • Second Session Families, to avoid Pack My Rx late fees, the deadline for registering and having submitted all prescriptions is June 15.
